If WSU didn't have Fred and Ron back, and ISUr didn't have Muller I would pick ISUr to win the conference next year. As it stands WSU will be the favorite, but I think ISUr might be picked 2nd.

3rd.

Way too early preseason poll-
1-WSU
2-UNI
3-ILSU
4-LUC
5-SIU
6-DU
7-INSU
8-UE (assuming the Lithuanian leaves)
9-MSU
10-BU

For UE,

If Giddy and everyone else stays, and a better coach is hired, the top 3.

If everyone stays, and Marty stays, mid pack 4-6

If Giddy leaves, and new coach is hired, probable mid pack

If Giddy leaves, and Marty stays, Thursday is a lock.

Well that gives us a clear expectation of what next year will be...lol.

Way too much could happen this off season to predict at this point. Could Marshall leave (my guess would be next year)? When Geno gets canned does Cunningham transfer? Does Marty get another year or does the big guy stay? Does UNI have anything to replace Tuttle with right away.

I like Loyola to step up a tad, but they need to replace Thomas. ISU will be in the mix. Wichita will be a front runner barring Marshall and Baker both leaving. SIU should improve. 0 predictions for MSU. More of the same? Drake doesn't look too good.

IMO, Marshall's not leaving until a select few jobs open. Now, one of those is UNC, and UNC could clean house soon given their issues, but other than that, we're talking Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. I also think Smart is ahead of him for those same jobs. Smart is the biggest advantage for Marshall staying at WSU long-term: he's younger, he has a better TV presence/media marketability, and Marshall's not going to be happy being a second choice.

And if UNI goes to the Final Four, would Jacobson leave for the kind of schools he would get attention from then? Jacobson's salary could easily be tripled by even an average major conference school.

Geno might get canned, Marty won't.

Loyola's got a 6'9" juco PF and a 6'7" SF with signed LOIs coming in. Roosevelt Smart bailing out on his verbal to Loyola is looking like a gamble that went bad given the direction and speed of progress with the program. His best offer since re-opening his recruiting is Western Kentucky. Loyola still has two open scholarships for next year.

Evansville's playing style and scheduling under Simmons is all about competing, not winning it all. They will almost always beat the inexperienced lower-half teams and very rarely beat the top teams. As long as they have Marty, their ceiling is 3rd or 4th in an exceptional year with everything going right, and they'll always win a minimum of 14 games by adjusting their non-con scheduling.

Jacobson doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would leave the UNI gig easily, but you have to imagine that some P5 school could throw enough money at him that he may not be able to refuse. Everybody says Geno's a goner, but I could see Bradley eating another year given the money invested and the current transition in the administration.

There are some real interesting rumors regarding a new contract for Jake in Cedar Falls.

Someone might triple where he is now but not what the rumor is.

I have no illusion's that Jake will be here forever, but he loves Cedar Falls and isn't a money chaser

I've also heard the Jacobson's are building a house.

That'll be interesting to see. I really doubt UNI is capable of paying Jacobson more than a million.

I just don't see where it would come from with UNI's poor attendance.

Not to mention they have cut sports due to budget problems.
