Seems to me the Valley has had more P-5+1 kids transfer in than top MVC players transfer out to P-5 +1 in the last year or 2. MSU has 2, ISUb has 2, LOC still has 1, Valpo has 2, Drake has 1. Evansville lost 2 this year, but they had a coaching change.

How does the rule somehow make the MVC a farm system for the Power Five schools?

You made a good point. Loyola had a transfer from a power conference and he helped them advance in the NCAA tournament. However I think I would be safe in saying the cream generally rises towards the top. MM schools could sometimes still compete against the bigger schools because experience. The MM kids had been playing together for 3 or 4 years whereas the P5 school kids had only been together for a year or 2 because their top players had left for the NBA. Anyways, I see that advantage being taken away from the MM with this new rule. In fairness, it’s already trending this wayIt already but bound to get worse. Anyways, I could easily be wrong so i wont adamantly defend this position.

All the rule states is that players don't need permission to transfer. How does this change where kids transfer to?

I’m not the most articulate. I guess I was focusing more on the fact that I feel transfers will happen alot more often and the 4-years-together-experienced schools (something that is advantageous for mid majors with less raw talent) will all but dissapear. As far as “Where will kids transfer to?”, well if a MM does land a big name recruit (like that Charles Bassey kid Western Kentucky signed) they’re almost encouraged to go elsewhere for whatever problem they face at the school (I’m curious to see how long Charles Bassey stick with the Hilltoppers). I’m aware some P5 recruits could transfer down but by the law of averages the cream will rise to the top, shouldn’t it. But admittedly, this is all just speculation on my part.

Water finds its level. The same teams who have been powers for 50 years will remain that way. Nothing will change really in the end. Teams still only have 13 scholarships to fill.

https://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2018 ... _back.html

In response to last week's NCAA Division I Council ruling freely allow football players to transfer without having to get permission from their current school, the Power 5 Conferences came back Tuesday with an insurance countermeasure.

The leagues - the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac 12 - passed a rule that once a player notifies his current school of his intent to transfer, schools can now cancel the scholarship of that player at the end of the academic term.

If the player doesn't like the transfer options and chooses to stay at the original school, the school will still be allowed to re-award the scholarship at the end of the term but they will no longer be required to do so.

The new rule will be followed by the Power 5 schools and the rest of Division I has the option to follow the rule.

That is FB only. I’m sure if BB didn’t span both semesters, they would’ve pulled that stunt there too.
