Tyrik Dixon and Tullio Da Silva didn't dress or play, so for now still ineligible.

So this just turned out to be a wayward rumor, I take it?

Right now it looks like none of these players will be eligible this year. Except Ridder will be eligible in Dec which was the case all along. Pretty disappointing. Oh well. I still think we have a chance to be pretty salty once we get Ridder. Depth is definitely going to be an issue though. And with that any injuries to key players will totally derail us.

Are the circumstances of these players transferring any different than Dru Smith leaving Evansville? Change in coaching staff, sit a year is still the rule no matter what Doug Gottlieb opined.

No doubt it's the rule so by the letter of the law it is what it is. It's just that there is case after case where exceptions are being granted that have less compelling reasons. I mean we're talking kids who played the entire year last year and are being granted eligibility while guys like Ridder and Neece, didn't play at all and have been at their respective schools 11 months and are denied. Look at Mark Smith at MU , his case was less compelling than Dru SMith's and yet Mark Smith plays while Dru sits; there's just zero consistency in how the rule is being enforced or waivers are being granted. What's also clear is that the individual student athletes well being isn't the concern, just how well the new school knows how to play the game and slant the waiver appeal. Dru would have played if Evansville had been willing to lie for MU on the waiver appeal which is what I'm sure is happening in many cases, wink-wink.

It does not make sense. Marty Hill was a first year Juco transfer last season for Evansville. He was hurt most of last season and didn't play past early January. He was denied an additional year by the NCAA this summer. I heard on the UE/Xavier tv broadcast that he played one minute too many to receive that extra year.

From what I've seen, a lot of the timing depends on how the coach from the school the athletes transferred from responds. The Shockers applied for a waiver for Teddy Allen, but we have been hearing that a decision keeps getting drug out because of the responses to WSU's application from West Virginia.
