DB got POW a couple years ago.

Wouldn't surprise me if EC, NK or even LVB make a run for one this year. And AB after he recovers from his AI in J. :D

Great....even more initials. The people here will be so confused!

Tune in tonight. SIU looks best, MSU 2 LU 3rd. BU4, Birds 5 , UNI 6, ISU Blue 7 Drake 8 Valpo 9 Aces 10 , my right now ranks.

Somebody got butt hurt by your comment, Redbirdgrad.

He was joking.

Clearly, but given the value of the piece of paper you get from BU, I can see why he missed it.

Bradley is in no way looking better than the Birds. Would you care to put a friendly wager on this one for season finish?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, guys. Lets not forget that Bradley has a MASSIVE game against Chicago St on Saturday. That game will be a true litmus test for the Braves since we all know Chicago St is such a quality opponent and always plays you tough.

Oh hey hi guys! Cam Krutwig is the player of the week. So far he's 23-25 on the season and averaging two blocks a game. With the slimmed down look he's moving his feet much better against guards on defense.

AJ Green with Newcomer... I haven't seen much but from what I can tell he's meeting expectations for UNI fans?

So far, absolutely. He's got a few things to clean up as far as some defensive lapses and a little sloppiness with the ball at times but he's as advertised. He's as ready for DI basketball as I've ever seen come into the Valley. Frankly, its not a matter of if he becomes UNI's all time leading scorer, its how many points CAN he score in 4 years?

You can probably go ahead and send the freshman and newcomer of the year plaques to Cedar Falls. I mean no disrespect to anybody else in the league, AJ is just that good and he's going to have the numbers to back it up.

AJ is playing pretty "meh" right now and still doing what he's doing. He's yet to click - which is to be expected as he's now played just 4 games against D1 teams.

He shot like 58% from the field and 48% from 3 in high school (and he took NBA length 3s in HS so it's just a distance thing). He's at 45% and 26% right now. That 3 point % will go up to about 40-45 is my guess. He's at 19 ppg 4 boards 2 assists 2 TO and a steal per game right now. I think there's some "pressure" on him from being who/what he is that he's trying to figure out how to play with, along with just understanding the college game. UNI is also running an entirely new system this year, and the roster is basically all new. It's guys that have been on campus to a degree but only Pick, Brown and Spencer have any real minutes together, and that was in a different system. That's where many of the TO's are coming from right now. Just figuring the system and each other out.

I think we will see AJ between 20-23 PPG at 45% from 2, 40% from 3 and 90+ at the line with 3-4 boards, 4-5 assists probably still 2-3 TOs by the end of the season

Similarly no disrespect; but I'm not sure he'd win either award at this point if the vote was today. He definitely will put up points, but he leads the league in shots taken, is shooting 26% from three and has more turnovers than assists, 3 bad stats for a point guard. It's early and obviously Green is going to be the figure head offensively for UNI all year, so again he'll pile up points, but to date Freeman at Valpo has been quietly a much more efficient and productive player as a frosh. He's averaging almost 14ppg, and other than ft% , his other shooting stats, rebounding and passing are superior across the board to Green. And he can guard across 3 positions.

Among newcomers Green hasn't even been the most impressive pg as Drake's Norton, other than scoring a couple points less per game, has across the board really good numbers for a pg. And among newcomers, Keandre Cooks numbers are just significantly better in key areas like fg% ,3pt% , and he averages over 8rbs a game .

So forgive me if I don't concede the awards yet; Green may well win them, but he's got a lot of work to do.

Javon Freeman might have a thing or two to say about the Freshman\Newcomer race. If you haven't seen him yet let me tell you he's really good and playing well beyond his years despite only being a freshman.

If he puts up that line he will get drafted this year.
