Similarly no disrespect; but I'm not sure he'd win either award at this point if the vote was today. He definitely will put up points, but he leads the league in shots taken, is shooting 26% from three and has more turnovers than assists, 3 bad stats for a point guard. It's early and obviously Green is going to be the figure head offensively for UNI all year, so again he'll pile up points, but to date Freeman at Valpo has been quietly a much more efficient and productive player as a frosh. He's averaging almost 14ppg, and other than ft% , his other shooting stats, rebounding and passing are superior across the board to Green. And he can guard across 3 positions.
Among newcomers Green hasn't even been the most impressive pg as Drake's Norton, other than scoring a couple points less per game, has across the board really good numbers for a pg. And among newcomers, Keandre Cooks numbers are just significantly better in key areas like fg% ,3pt% , and he averages over 8rbs a game .
So forgive me if I don't concede the awards yet; Green may well win them, but he's got a lot of work to do.
