Realistically, what is SIU's budget? If you're going to pay $200k, you might as well hang on to Barry because chances are good you're not going to do much better. I know they're paying Nick Hill next to nothing so I assume that's going to carry over to basketball, right?

Theyll have to go find a coach from a low major that has shown promise or an assistant at a mid major.

I like Barry, but I also believe that change can be a good thing. I don't know who they can get on their budget, but there are always people who will jump at the chance for a HC job. Missouri State didn't break their budget when they hired Dana Ford. How it turns out remains to be seen, but he can recruit at a high level, and he coaches his players up. (Which is a nice change of pace.) I know there is an assistant coach at Creighton out there who just happens to be tied to that University that may want another shot at being a head coach in the Valley....

If Barry gets canned, they would be fools not to call up Bryan Mullins. Keep Valley guys in the Valley!

Muller, Ford, Moser, Hinson, Marty Simmons - all of these coaches have deep rooted ties to the league and have had or will have success. Bringing in Mullins would also help rejuvenate the fan base down there. A lot of Redbird fans gained more interest when Muller became HC because he was known. Mullins would do the same and I think have some great success. I'm sure he would also jump at the chance to run his alma mater's program for whatever "entry level" head coach's pay is.

Muller is safe. He has under achieved if you ask most Redbird fans but his teams are competitive and don't play Thursday night in STL. As far as the ISU Athletic Admin is concerned, that's success. Plus, they just extended him through like 2024 back in 2017. I have little to no problem hanging with Muller. He is due and will get the Birds over the hump eventually. First step is to win Sunday in STL and get the 20 year old monkey off the program's back. I think that will happen this season or next.

I could never wish that on another Valley member; I want all Valley teams to do well, and just expect the Bears to find ways to be better, not be better because someone sucks like we did under Lusk. The rest of this year and this summer will be interesting to see what happens at SIU/Bradley/ Indiana State. My guess is only SIU makes a move. I think next year will be a banner year for the Valley for a couple years. One is we have a lot of young talent in the league this year, and a number of programs that could be on the rise with young or newer coaches. Then you add probably 4 teams with veteran coaches [ BU/ISUr/ISUb/UNI] who will be under pretty intense scrutiny unless one of them rallies this year to win the conference.
The Bear is the largest carnivore on the North American continent; beware the Bear!

Totally agree but, didn't take a very big circle to do that.
