Michigan, Texas and USC are considered three of the top 6 or 7 "premier" college football coaching destinations. None of those three has sniffed a national championship in 10+ years.

It hasn't shown up in NCAA success for a while for sure but ISUr is #1 in winning percentage all time for
current Valley members. The Redbirds are consistently at the top of the standings and competing on
Sundays at the Arch.

The proximity to talent, facilities and campus life at ISUr put it in the top tier of MVC jobs!

I think the notoriety is also captured with media exposure. UNI ranks #1 in that category. Bradley was a national powerhouse decades ago, so that's probably why they grab the #1 spot. If you were to limit this to the past decade or two, the ranking would certainly be different.

If anything, Loyola is way underranked by the MVC coaches. Their tradition/history of success should put them at or near the top of that category.

Jeff Goodman did not rank these by himself. He is simply the source for which the results were calculated and then presented.

Stop saying he or how moronic is he.

It's just something to get people talking and of course the biases when your program is at the bottom of this list will piss you off!

I didn't say he was moronic. I just disagree with some of the rational and the article doesn't explain if it was all head coaches or all assistants or one from each team? At least I didn't see it.

SIU has the best fair weather fans in the entire world. We would have been #1 in that category for sure.

I make the trip to Carbondale every year and seems like a tough place to win at times.

We also have the best fair weather fans who aren't alums, donate a nickel to the university, buy tickets, attend games or even live in the state of Illinois. They have complaining down to an art. SIU #1 in complaining and fair weather fans. Book it!"

No doubt about it, we love our Arena....the remodel was a total upgrade over the Reese's Piece's motif. Now it's beautiful without losing the old charm. Now if we could just win there on a regular basis again.

I would say that winning % means very little because I know MSU is #2 by only a small % and yet obviously we have struggled the last decade except for the one title under Counzo. We were consistently a top 3-4 team thruout the prior two decades, that consistency gets a nice winning %, but that doesn't equate to titles or NCAA appearances as MSU and Illinois State have two of the longest absences in the conference.

My biggest complaint about a poll like this is besides it being opinion based and unclear on exactly whose opinion, it also assumes those 8 categories are equal in assessing job attractiveness. I can tell ya right now ancient history doesn't hold a candle to facilities when someone is looking at can I win somewhere today. For a coach it probably starts with salary for him and his staff, but facilities is probably a strong second.
