My guess is there was a black helicopter involved. We will just call it Okie 1. I am sure he will resign, and board it ala Richard Nixon in '74. As the copter is leaving the ground, and Barry is waving from the window to the good people of Carbondale, his wife will find an envelope which has the Conference USA invite in it for Missouri State.

Does it really matter Dean? He is going to get canned in a few weeks anyway.

I'll believe it when I see press row, cameras, and the current AD at the mic announcing it all to Saluki Nation! Hinson will fight this thing to the end.

I really do not think he will... In an interview earlier in the year he said "in 7 years if you can't get this program to post season.... I get it... I get it..."... He knows what is coming. He is done. done done done. cooked. it's over. finally, this University will rid itself of Barry Hinson and hopefully he stays away from the MVC this time. Make no mistake though... Barry Hinson will be coaching his final game for SIU on the 7th, 8th or 9th of March. (He isn't getting to Sunday, he is not capable.)

Time will tell, but a change is certainly in order to all parties involved. Time to move in another direction.

No doubt about it. 100% Hinson won’t be back . I know people from the outside don’t fully understand why the SIU fans want him gone so adamantly. He isn’t anywhere near what he wants you to believe he is. He is a complete fraud. The Valley and especially SIU will become a better league once he is gone .

Didn't SIU announce last season that Hinson will be terminated if he does not make the NCAA Tournament? I feel like I remember reading that somewhere.

I suspect that Hinson, similar to other people that I know, is very different publically rather than privately. He is going to make a wonderful politician if he can get elected

Complicated story. Chancellor asked AD to raise the money for the buyout. Chancellor hires Jerry Kill as a special advisor. AD raises the money and is cleared to get rid of Barry. Kill and a few other major donors band together to change Chancellor's mind. Chancellor fires AD instead. Kill named interim AD. Kill and Barry agree that he will win big in 18-19 or he is out. Relationship between Kill and Barry deteriorates. Hinson struggles to stay above .500. Kill named permanent AD. Barry is out of time.

It would have been better for Hinson's coaching reputation if they had fired him as planned last March. He could have sold all his media cronies on how he did as well as could have been expected in an injury-plagued year, and he was on the verge of a breakthrough season with a veteran team this year.
Instead, he has squandered a senior-loaded roster in a weak year for the MVC, and even a skillful huckster like Hinson will have real difficulty pushing back on SIU's decision to move on.

The former AD "our sole objective in 2019 is to win a conference championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. Between now and next March, you will not hear us hedge or equivocate."

I'm guessing that hard line has softened under the new AD?

Actually that hard line got harder... New AD said this is it or you are done... He is done. No reason to discuss it. Barry Hinson is done. d-o-n-e. He has no gripe. He has ruined a veteran roster that went 11-7 last year. The man is a career loser and finally its coming to an end. March 7th-9th cant come soon enough. I am so sick of watching this man try to coach a team. I hope he gets embarrassed on his way out. Play in game loss to Evansville or Indiana State by double digits.
