Can’t recall who wrote it but the MVC has handed out 2 COY’s three times but not since the 80s. This year would be a great year to break that out again with 2 coaches toe-to-toe and so far ahead of the other 8 who are non-factors as all underachieved.

How have Bradley and UNI underachieved? Especially if they both win out?

Bradley was picked 4th, UNI 5th. As of now these are likely finishing spots for both teams. Wardle and Jake have done good jobs righting their respective ships but I dont think either is in a position for COY. This award should be reserved for the coach of the title winning team or a coach, like Ford or Devries, who has completely surpassed preseason expectations.

Still doesn't sound like underachieving, especially if they both win out. Which would give Loyola 2 more losses. Imo ISU red and Blue and Loyola, Siu are the underachievers Drake and Msu are overachievers but only time will tell. Everything is still wide open.

You are correct, finishing 4th after being picked 4th isnt underachieving. Im just telling you that Wardle shouldnt even be considered for the award.

wardle might get a third place vote or two but its really a two man race (really devries has it locked up unless a collapse and MSU wins out). if you cant see that then youre just being biased.

It will be interesting see what happens if Drake and MSU finish with identical records. In that case you could make an equally strong case for both coaches.

Between those I think Drake’s has the more impressive season. He built that team almost from scratch in the offseason. And recovered from the loss of a great PG mid season.

That's where I'm leaning as well. He might even get the nod even if MSU wins the conference.
