The 7-foot-1 center announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft on Monday

Nah, he's right. With the way the NBA rules work right now you can declare for the draft with no risk to yourself. There is literally no downside to declaring for it now, and there's a lot of benefit in receiving feedback about your game through the process.
