We arent defending those fans which was a small minority. Were defending our right to move on from a coach. Yes barry helped us from Lowery hole. Barry was never gonna be a coach to bring a team to the ncaa tourny. He couldnt even get a team to the nit. Maybe southern fans are just tired of being told we shouldn't get rid of hinson when we dealt with him daily for 7 years. You guys all act like we should have been compelled to keep him because we didnt finish last for a few seasons. If your vision of success is playing on friday consistently but never winning, well i guess we have different expectations.

Well there's the mismatch. Because nobody is attacking SIU's decision to fire Barry. Goodness knows I think Missouri State made the right decision to fire him too. What the article is pointing out is the way a small group of fans treated Barry. So if you're not defending that small group of fans then we agree.

I agree with Sci. I have always said that Barry was a good man, just not a good coach. He has the fundamentals, gets close, but can't finish. Low major or D2 would be a better fit. With that said, I think he needs to stay connected to the MVC in some fashion, through an AD job, TV commentary or succeeding Elgin. The Press loves him and would give him a platform to promote the Valley.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

If you're talking about the small group that behaved like complete asshats at the MVC tourney this year, then yes, I think we are all on the same page.

If you are talking about a much, much larger "small group" that has been calling for his firing for the past few years, then we don't agree. The "HELL" referenced in the thread title is in part of BH's own making. That "small group"--with which I agreed--was tired of the con game, the throwing of players under the bus while feigning responsibility, the playing of the victim card, and the lowered expectations. That group of people is not the villain here. There are no villains, and that includes Barry Hinson.

Omg really ?

Mullins already has a better class in one month than Barry had in 7 years. He is not even the nice guy everybody claims. Barry cares about Barry and acts well. While I agree what happened in St.Louis is regrettable it is what it is. He is the master of playing woe is me .

Barry, thankfully, is done. He won't coach Division I ball anywhere.

So is someone else we both know. That little stunt he pulled sending me an email during the Illinois State game (when he knew I was at the Arena) back in March almost made me feel sorry for him.
