I swim every day. I actually think up the best ideas for my articles when I'm touching the bottom of the pool 10 feet underwater. It's good for thinking.

And it's the best possible lifelong exercise you can do. Most people get old and fat at some point. If you're old and fat, exercise is hell on your joints. But not in the water! There's a guy at my gym who swims at lunch sometimes. He had three heart attacks before he started swimming. If he didn't swim, he'd be dead now. He's still got a massive gut and he kind of waddles when he walks, but he moves as gracefully through the water as anyone else.

I used to teach swim lessons to both adults and children. Plenty of adults take swim lessons with zero experience, so while it can be a little frustrating and awkward to learn a new skill like that, please don't confuse that with shameful or embarrassing. You're doing something to improve and enhance your life that could ultimately make the difference in someone else's under the wrong circumstances. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing about that.

Has nothing to do with embarrassment. I'm not an anxious or fearful person in general, but I hate having my head under water. Water in my eyes, ears, nose, mouth, or just in my face in general is something I not only dislike, but freaks me out. I panic, even when I've been dunked in a pool where I could stand on my knees and have my head clear the surface. Thing is, I like being in the water... so long as my head doesn't go under.

And this all is one of the many reasons I married a former lifeguard.

Sorry, I was speaking in generalities, not specifically at you regarding terms like "shame" and "embarrassment".

I remember when I was In bootcamp in the Marines, there was at least 10-15 guys that didn’t know how to swim, I think It’s much more common than people perceive it to be. They all had to spend a couple days in the pool learning how to swim so that they could pass the swim qualification.

This week's power rankings are up. See which Muppet corresponds to each Valley school.

Count von Count for the Bravos - spot on, especially since they do "One, ah ah ah. . .Two, ah ah ah, Three ah ah ah. Three point play, ha ha ha." after 3 point plays.

And ISU as Lew Zealand because Muller keeps throwing away breakout seasons and keeps coming back like his fish. . .fall out of the chair funny.

Seventh: Indiana State Sycamores, Gonzo the Great

He’s blue, and so are the Sycamores. He’s sexually attracted to chickens, and I’ve known one or two people from Terre Haute who feel the same way.

So through the games played on Sunday, here's how I have the Valley. But this list is a complete overreaction to a handful of results (as a good power ranking should be), and there's not a team on here where you couldn't make a plausible case that they should be two spots higher/lower. At this point I think we know even less about the pecking order in this league than we thought.

1. UNI
2. ISUr
3. Drake
4. UE
5. ISUb
6. Valpo
7. Bradley
8. MSU
9. SIU
10. Loyola
