Barry is polarizing. You love him or hate him. 10+ years later in Springfield people still argue about him when his name comes up.

Aces fans: wE ArENt a ThUrSdAY tEAm...

Aces miss 3 free throws with 0.5 sec left to let the game go to OT. Evansville hung on to win by 3 against D2 cross town rival USI.

Where's the guy that told us all of our doubts would be answered after USI? I think we should applaud him for being right.

Heavy, heavy minutes from their starters, too. Yikes.

They will play better than they did tonight. They will have to if they want to win ANY Valley games.

I think everyone hopes they play better than that for the sake of not making the Valley look bad. With that being said you guys might have been overhyping the Aces a bit.

Two things, while I tend to agree with blers in that a couple UE posters have been a bit over the top in their "enthusiasm" for their Aces, I also remind everyone that meaningless exhibition games are hardly a barometer for a teams potential for that season. Last year the LadyBears played the defending D-2 National Champions in their first exhibition game, a team they had beaten by 30 the year before, and they lost. They went on to start the season against a brutal schedule at 0-7. They finished the year at 24-10 and in the sweet 16.

Duke played the defending D-2 champs the other day and won by 6. Granted, as a D-1 team you really hate to have those showings, but again, they are ultimately meaningless in assessing how a season might transpire.

I think both things can be true. Exhibition results are meaningless. But Evansville also played its starters HEAVY minutes last night. It wasn't like they were running guys 10-13 on the roster out there for 15+ minutes.

On the other hand, USI is also really good. A Final Four team last season. Better than any other MVC exhibition opponent. USI would play a lot of MVC teams close in the regular season and would maybe win a couple.

I'm sure it was a fun atmosphere last night.

Let’s keep perspective. Ambushing the guy with “you suck!” chants and insults in front of his family while he cries and gives a heartfelt apology for not making the Tournament at his resignation speech isn’t what we’d call a “glorious day”.

Sorry, that’s not going unchecked here.

Congrats to the Salukis on a good start.

A. I was not in St. Louis. There has been a precipitous drop in Arch Madness attendance through the Dark Ages, i.e. the Lowry and Hinson one-two punches. Much of that attendance drop can be attributed to the deserved apathy of the SIU fan base.

B. Had I been in STL I would not have booed Hinson, I have never booed a coach, excepting Bill Self in Vegas, when he was crying to the refs 15 feet out on the court.

C. To lump all SIU fans into that bucket is quite presumptuous, sort of like calling all Trump voters "deplorables".

D. It is a hell of a lot easier to like good ole Barry when he is coaching a team other than YOUR team.

E. Hinson, despite spending a goodly number of years in the MVC, has never, ever taken a team to The Dance, but he has certainly got a lot of "my dog ate my homework" excuses.

F. And it was a glorious day, it should have happened about three or four years earlier.
