No good wins for UNI on the Valley schedule, only NET drags. They will have to run the table in order to get an at large bid... Not sure if it's good news, but at least 90% of the league is inside 200. Kinda surprised to see Indiana State inside 100, outside of Louisville and Dayton, their schedule wasn't too daunting.

If nothing else, this shows the value of playing Q1 games. INST is 4-4 but has 3 games against Q1 (0-3).

UNI can have no more than 3 MVC losses for at large consideration. I can see it now. Sitting in a hotel room in STL before heading out for the Friday or Saturday games of Arch Madness. ESPN Game Day will play their blind resume game.
Team A: 26-4.
NET:62
Q1 Record: 1-1
Q2 Record: 3-1
Q3: Record: 15-1
Q4: Record: 7-1

Team B: 20-10
NET:55
Q1 Record: 0-5
Q2 Record: 2-3
Q3: Record: 13-1
Q4: Record: 5-1

The national talking heads will all choose B. Team A will be UNI and Team B will be some .500 ACC team.

You're so right about that, it's painful.

And yet we were so close to much better numbers... What could have been had teams throughout the conference closed the deal on some important games... The sad reality for UNI is that they can't play themselves into the tournament with this league schedule they can only potentially play themselves out of it. I wish there was more we as a conference could do to reverse this situation. For this particular season adding Murray State would not be an answer because they're checking in at 197 behind every MVC team except SIU. The top of the HL (Wright State and NKU) wouldn't help much either as they're both in the 110s if I saw correctly)

So what you're saying is our goal is a conference should be to load up on "body bag" buy games, hope we win a few of them and otherwise schedule only solid mid major home and homes. I wonder if every MVC institution has the stomach to make that kind of schedule.

Weird, its like basing the whole Murray State decision off of one generational talent was a bad idea. Wouldn't have guessed it...

That is the sad reality. Since instituting the NET, it hasn't favored well for Non-p5 teams. The committee says, "schedule better games." Then p5 teams say no/the p5 conferences schedule more conference games limiting the opportunity for these Q1 wins. It is a biased system.

# of MVC programs in the last 10 years with more teams who’ve advanced in the NCAA Tournament than Murray?

# of MVC programs in the last 69 years with more teams who’ve advanced in the D1 NCAA Tournament than Murray?

Answer to both is 0. Remove Morant and it’s 1.

They may not have helped this year but the past two years (and several other years in the past) they certainly would have. I am still fully in favor of their addition to the MVC because of their ability to win in march the problem is we need a school (preferably a private) within a tight footprint that moves the needle in a similar fashion to make it happen which isn't exactly a long list of options. You're allowed to have a down year or two or has it only taken you 12 games to forget how mediocre UNI has been the past few years? We believed in them because of their history Murray State should receive the same courtesy and treatment. They still would have proven to be a better game than GCU and Marshall who UNI has closed out the non conference schedule with.

Wasn't unexpected the last couple years for UNI. Jake has a cycle. It is what it is. The two teams before the Tuttle team were pretty bad too. The difference is that we don't buy CIT bids to pad win totals anymore to make it look better than it actually was.

I'm salty about that Marshall series. Scheduled off of them getting into the tournament and winning a game and they've fallen apart. We also have to go there next year. GCU is going to turn out to be an good win. They've got 3 transfers that will be eligible at Christmas. They'll still win a bunch of game in the WAC.

It doesn't matter who you schedule. This system is fixed so it won't make any difference. Is Indiana States 86 really any better than Evansvilles 183? It is not like it is going to get them into the tournament.
