Just to clarify, there has been PIG team to win a 2nd game in Arch Madness. Bradley in 1998 was the #7 seed, had to mount a huge comeback to beat a Terrible #10 Drake team in the PIG. They they went on to beat #2 Creighton the next day before completely running out of gas in the 2nd half of a game against #3 seed MSU.

I know Valpo wasn't around at the time but I've followed the conference long enough to know a good bit of the history during my lifetime. Why was Creighton so famous for early flameouts?

Valpo is better than I expected, and I see them avoiding Thursday in exchange for the Bears. If SIU hadn't lost Cook and Dembele for the year I think they would have a chance to avoid Thursday, but the depth just isn't there. I agree on Evansville and Illinois State; I see them both finishing 10th and 9th.

If Fazekas can return soon and at 100% then I see them in the fight for 4'th 5th and 6th. If he tries for a redshirt (which I think unlikely) or returns damaged then Valpo could hit Thursday night but maybe not.

What do we VU fans know about his prospects? Nothing but he is working out or practicing "SOME" (vocal emphasis on some) according to our radio voice Todd Ickow. I have no idea how "SOME" should be interpreted.

Indiana State sits at 3-2 in MVC play, we just want to finally finish a season at .500 and possibly avoid playing on Thursday for a change. With 13 MVC games left we need to go 5-8, which puts us at 8-10 in MVC play and 15-14 overall. Assuming we'll lose our first game in St Louis that gets us a 15-15 season and FINALLY a non losing season. That would be a step in the right direction for the Sycamores.

8-10 in the MVC may or may not avoid Thursday, there are a lot of games left, so we'll see?

Indiana State looks really good. You should be aiming higher than for just a .500 season. I'm not looking forward to playing you guys even with the game at home. It's going to be tough.

we've had 6 or 7 straight losing seasons, the leadership is no different, so ISU fans just want a .500 season for a change, for once. We haven't played well and won consistently on the road in forever, so these next 2 road games will show if we're gonna be the same old ISU, or possibly have a .500 season or better, and potentially avoid the Play In Games.

Honestly, Valpo probably needs this one to avoid Thursday. The loser has to really start worrying about being a Thursday team perhaps though I think ISUb is better positioned to avoid that fate than we are unless and until we get Fazekas back which might be soon who knows?

I know, right!! They would play well enough out of conference. It’d help our team/conference ranking, but it seems they would lose the first round of every NCAA tournament game. It was so frustrating! Lol

Probably a little to early to derive much from this, but here are the historical MVC Tourney seeds based on conference records through 5 games. This is a cumulative total from the past 23 seasons (1997 was the first year of the current 10-team format).
