The top of the OVC might be better most years right now but there's no question which schools have more potential. Moreover, the numbers simply don't bear that out. I went all the way back to 2002-2003 for RPI\NET data and the OVC has finished ahead of the HL exactly once in that span. Most years there's a pretty sizable gap as well. There's a reason there were rumors in the past of Belmont and Murray State leaving for the HL (not sure how serious that ever was) back before Butler left. It's a better league. One single anecdotal game is not nearly enough evidence to suggest otherwise. Green Bay has been an up and down team for a few years now and without looking it up I'm sure most HL teams handled their business against most OVC teams. If single games were enough to vault one conference over the other the MVC should be considered better than the SEC since our winless cellar dwellar knocked off their regular season champion on their home floor. That's an even more compelling case than the result of a game between two middle of the pack teams in their respective conferences.
