I have two new blog posts this week. The first ranks the MVC coaches. The second is the week four summary, power rankings, and mid-major bits. Was very tough to rank the top four this week.

There is lots of other Valley content there as well if you haven't taken a look yet. Next week I am starting a two-part series where I simulate an MVC season (via whatifsports) using each team's best team of the 21st century from my earlier article. Should be fun.

Check it out at https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/ . Have a great holiday all!

There's no way Moser should be ahead of Wardle, even with the Final Four and Muller should probably be lower at this point

I have Moser ahead of Wardle as he took a program that was REALLY struggling, took them up a conference, got them to the Final Four, won multiple league titles, and finally has been able to recruit Chicago.

I think Wardle is a good coach, hence why I have him third, but Bradley has still done most of their damage at Arch Madness. Certainly nothing to shake your fist at, but he still hasn't had a team seeded higher than 4th. I took the consistency over seasons of Moser over Wardle. But both are outstanding coaches.

Muller was a very tough call for me. Other than Lansing probably the toughest to grade.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hello All,

Just posted the week 5 updated power rankings. I am also using the ten teams from my first article, "Every MVC School's Best Basketball Team of the 20th Century" to play out a simulated all-time MVC season using whatifsports.com. Part one of my two part series on that is also posted.

Have a happy new year all.

Moser is ahead of Wardle and it's not really all that close once you start looking at body of work the past few years.

Wardle started from scratch at Bradley and to his credit has improved each year and has shown he can bring in some quality guys. He's won Arch Madness the past two years and has Bradley in position to compete for the title this year. I think a lot of people expected Bradley to drop once Elijah was injured half the season last year, but they managed to hold on for a respectable seed and that's in no small part a credit to the coaching. Speaking of the coaching staff, there is very little turnover from players and coaches and there seems to be a strong sense of buy-in. Bradley is trending upward and I think as long as Wardle is there, they will compete for the top of the league.

However, he has no regular season championships and can't seem to pull off the non-conference upsets that force you and the rest of the MVC into the national conversation of best mid-majors like UNI and Loyola have done (Michigan State, Xavier and Missouri were all winnable). Other than Toledo this year, you'd maybe have to look back to the Penn State or SMU win a couple years ago for their best non-con win. Those were good wins, but not marquee wins. They need to get over that hump.

Win a regular season or two, pull off some upsets in your non-conference and win a couple tournament games, then we can start comparing Moser and Wardle.

I have also posted the second part of my All-Time MVC simulated season. The regular season has finished so you can see the final standings and scores.

Really looking forward to next week when I play out my All-Time season's Arch Madness complete with box scores and game summaries. I have already started and it has been a blast.

Thanks for those of you who are reading. Really cool to see multiple hundreds of views on my articles!

Hello All,

There are two new posts this week. The first is my standard weekly power ranking, summaries and tidbits.

The second is one I am really excited about. It is Session I of my "All-Time Arch Madness" featuring all the teams from my "Every MVC School's Best Team of the 20th Century" article. For this, I have supplied a writeup and a box score for each game as provided by whatifsports. Session 1, Thursday Night, is posted now featuring 2006 Bradley, 2016 Evansville, 2011 Missouri State and 2001 Indiana State. I will be posting one session a day for the next five days so be sure to check back as the tournament progresses. Tomorrow 2016 Valpo, 2018 Loyola and 2010 UNI will debut. On Thursday 2008 Drake, 2017 Illinois State and 2007 SIU will make their debut. Semis Friday. Championship Saturday. After this week, I'll get back to my normal stuff.

Thanks all. The link is here: https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/

Hello MVC Fans,

The new weekly power rankings and summaries are posted. This week's other article is about the "Top 30 Newcomers in the MVC in 20-21 (So Far)". At least one person from every school is featured, so check it out. Also my "All-Time Arch Madness" was played out in five session over the course of last week and that is now all posted so you can see how your team did.

The link is here: https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/

Thanks all and good luck to your teams.

Hello All,

I just made two new blog posts. One is the standard power rankings and tidbits for week 9. The other is "Every MVC School's Most Famous Basketball Alum". I also included an addendum for other famous alums at each school. Please let me know which ones I missed. I really enjoyed researching this one.

Alright, a lot of new stuff this week at https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/.

-We are now on Twitter. Follow @BeatMVC

-New power rankings and tidbits. The tidbits this week are essentially a mid-major bubble watch so I figure that might be interesting to some people. https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... ogy-update

-This week's other article is a check-in on the Larry Bird Trophy race (written primarily before this weekend's games, so it is already a bit out of date. I look at the top 15 candidates with at least one from each team. https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... tch-top-15

Thanks everyone! Have a good one!

-With the FCS season starting this week (and a lack of new ideas from me) my second article is an MVFC preview. I doubt that will be terribly popular here, but take a look if you're interested: https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... on-preview
