I do understand. My point is it is terribly difficult to claim undue injury if the supposedly injured party both helped write the document and has even benefitted from it in the past. Both EKU and JSU had benefitted from exit fees paid by others and had an active role in writing the document they claim to be harmed by. Summary judgment wouldn’t seem to be the just course.

We need an exit fee and I'd also make departing members ineligible for automatic bids.

The CAA method?

That's bullshit. It's not the kids playing that are making these decisions. They don't deserve to have opportunities taken away because of something they have no control over.

We've got a de facto exit fee. Loyola is going to lose approximately $4M in NCAA distributions. We're just fine where we're at.

Agree as well on not needing exit fees. The OVC has exit fees and they have lost 5 schools this year. They obviously don't work.

We have a great league. If someone doesn't want to be here, or thinks their grass is greener elsewhere, I sure don't want to try to bribe them to stay. Good luck and we will add someone else.

Good comment and it makes me think a little too. If we go back to the 90's with Tulsa, do we think any teams really miss being here that have left? I would say no, because things seemed to have worked out with at least a little bit of success for everyone. Not sure the financials of FBS football for Tulsa, but that move seemed to go as good as it could. Let's face it, they are not going to be added to a P5 league. I would use that as the cautionary tale for schools like Missouri State or Illinois State that dream of moving up.

I don't think an exit fee should be used to entice nor enforce a school to stay if they come upon a better opportunity. Much like buying a new car, new house, or selling property, there are standard fees that apply in order to enjoy those opportunities. Hopefully the recently added schools will stay long term, and help elevate the MVC to the next level.

The only flight risks I see are Missouri State Illinois State and possibly UNI (FBS) and Belmont and that's only if the A-10 decides it wants to expand to Nashville. All of these are very unlikely considering the hit to the basketball profile any of these schools moving up to FBS would take plus the extra scholarships travel and fees. I don't see the MVC losing anyone for a very long time.

UNI is not going anywhere. There was talk of a MAC move 15 years ago when we were good at football, but if it didn't happen then it sure as hell won't happen now. We're fortunate to be where we are.
