David Ragland - Evansville Native and current Butler Assistant Coach
Chris Lowery - Evansville Native

Lowery flamed out at SIU, why would we want him? Who cares if he is from Evansville? I would take Barry over him. At least the pressers would be great.

Cheaney doesn't have the experience for a major rebuild, but would be popular.

Crean is sort of interesting, but I think we are done with failed P-5 coaches for awhile.

I would put Ben McCollum from Northwest MO on the list. Ragland maybe, but not sure why no one has picked him up yet.

Bruce Weber seems like a fit but he's also so pissed at the state of the sport that he may not want to jump back in and just head for retirement.

I love Bruce, but I would be concerned about long term with his age. That was one of the problems Lickliter had with recruits, few saw him as a long-term coach.

This is a large rebuild that should have started the day McCarty was canned. It's going to take a lot of energy and convincing of recruits they are in it for the long haul.

If anyone is interested, UE is having a press conference at 4:00PM Central. You can stream it through the link below.

New AD was just hired two weeks ago. The previous AD had to go before we could do anything with the basketball program. He was simply horrible. Among his failures, his lack of properly vetting McCarty knocked this program back years. His panic hire in Lickliter cemented that hole. He was arrogant and had no interest in engaging the fans or community.

His contract was up this year, and our President was not going to renew it. His departure was announced after Arch Madness in mid-March. A national search, which also involved a national recruiting firm, took place, and we hired the AD away form Cal=Bakersfield. Taking a little time and doing an extensive search was crucial to getting the right guy, even if it meant our timing on dealing with Lickliter was off.

I have a feeling with the decisiveness he has shown in a short period, he has a plan already in place. There is nothing I have seen from him so far that hasn't impressed me. We've lacked leadership for the last 20 years. This group seems much more determined.

Good Luck UE. Evansville was once a very good program. Would be great to see them make a move up the ladder. They use to pack in the fans at old Roberts Stadium. They have a chance to really help the MVC image there is potential there. Hope they go after an up and comer not a rehash. 8-)

We just signed 3 players, bad timing in my opinion on letting the whole staff go.
Plus, the AD doesn't have a coach in waiting as they are doing a national search .
