Bowen Born IS the best player the MVC.

Winning POY is going to depend on where teams end up, of course, but he's the best player in the league and he'll be around for two more years.

He's a sophomore though, so 3 more years, right? ;) :D

He's a gifted scorer and great shooter, but he doesn't defend that well, he doesn't rebound, and he doesn't assist much. There are better all around players in the league imho. He's Mosley like except he can't rebound.
That in itself is a huge compliment as an offensive talent . The stats are pretty remarkably similar as 3rd year players with Mosley a bit better in most areas and a big diff[ as you'd expect] 6.2 /2.4 in rebounding .

Right now, Domask and Sheppard would be my picks for POY, probably Devries next. They all do more than Born. Mast could make a run. As we all know, which team makes a run to the title with their player leading will go along way as to who wins.

Alarms are starting to go off in Murray, Ky. Yes, MVC > OVC - but computer rankings don't care about that and the Racers are at Kenpom 180 after last night. This isn't far from unchartered waters for the program.

Thanks! That was a crazy game. I know basketball is a game of runs, but it felt like much bigger runs than usual.

Through most of the game, UNI had SO many missed 3pt shots and good drives with layups that just didn't go in. I kept expecting those to start falling and to slowly take the lead.

When we were down 9 with 7:45 to go, it sorta felt like it was slipping away (ESPN estimated we had a 12% chance of winning). Then we called a timeout and whatever happened in that huddle, UNI came out and went on a 18-0 run over the next 6 minutes.

The intensity was great. Bowen's over-and-back save was awesome.

I think Murray has a great culture and great coach and is rebuilding and I fully expect tough tough games from the Racers in years to come.

He's a smaller AJ Green.

Ben doesn't seem to think his best offensive players have to guard anyone.

I wouldn’t put Tucker ahead of Born. Born has been way more efficient. More assists too.

Born
53.8% (22)
47.6% (29)
58.3% (23)
53.8% (25)
44.4% (10)
53.3% (27)
50.0% (23)

Tucker
33.3% (15)
64.3% (25)
33.3% (18)
42.9% (20)
30.8% (11)
25.0% (11)
45.5% (15)

Fair argument; I'm not a huge Devries guy, but the argument in his favor would be he rebounds and plays a little better defense, while as you noted, Born has been more consistent and more efficient. Neither in my mind has played as well as Domask and Sheppard. When you're talking POY, I just feel a guy has to be more than a scorer unless his scoring is just so dominant.

It is probably Domask for me at this point. He does so much for them.

I'm a big DeVries fan but I've seen both Born and DeVries this year and Born is carrying Northern Iowa right now.
