Bradley comes out of the gates like a team on a mission. They were hitting 3's, getting to the basket for lay-ups and dunks, and playing the defense they are known for. They are up 40-24 at the half at UAB. Not sure we can shoot the 3 that well in the 2nd half or play much better, but a great start for the night for sure.

Then they choked the second half away, falling behind by 10, but they gutted out a rally to force OT and eeked out the win :Yea!: :Yea!: :Yea!: :Yea!: :Yea!:

To the UIC fans out there, what’s going on with Marquise Kennedy? I haven’t seen him play 1min tonight. Is he injured?

That was a wild game. Win the 1st half, 40-24, only to lose the second half by the same score.

Leons had a monster game (24 pts, 14 rbs, 3 steals and a block)...and fouled out with 26 seconds left in OT...only to have Hannah hit the game-winner with 2 seconds.

Good road win. Hopefully UAB and its nine new players gets it together and wins a lot.

I’m not sure how good UAB will be. Will take them a while. But that’s still a good win. I had less than zero faith Bradley would win after blowing the huge lead and falling behind by ten.

Leons was the best player on the floor. Hannah played well. Deen made a couple monster shots. Bradley’s guard depth is REALLY thin but take the road W.

Okani had a monster game for UIC. Didn't win, but gonna be some tough games in Chicago. Any idea what’s up with Kennedy?

Tale of 2 halves for Bradley. Went from good to abysmal and somehow eeked it out.

Thanks Evansville for hopefully getting out of the sub 300 basement with that win :)

Belmont won a game against an unexpectedly tough Georgia State team.

MSU doing MSU things. Looked really good at times and really poor decisions at other times.

Didn't watch any other games, but looks like everyone held serve. Would have liked the WVU in but all in all not a bad night for the Valley

Overall, a good opening night. Only losses were medium deficits to P5 schools.

UIC loses to Cincinnati 69-58.
Missouri St loses to West Virginia 67-59.

Bradley wins over UAB at Bartow Arena 73-71 in OT.
Belmont outruns Georgia St 89-87.
Evansville beats Miami 72-64.

Then a bunch of non-DI wins, including Roger Powell Jr winning his Valparaiso debut by repelling the Trinity Christian Trolls.

I’m think Kennedy is injured. Yak mentioned something along those lines at MVC media day.

UIC at times looked decent against Cincy. I hope we’re improved from last year. We need some 3-point shooting badly, however, and something out of one of our 3 bigs (Skobalj, Brownell, Fens).

A few quick thoughts from SIU's 88-57 win over D-II Kentucky State:
- Jovan Stulic, a Little Rock transfer, looks like he will be a nice offensive threat off the bench. Pretty left-handed shot.
- The big-man combo of Clarence Rupert and Scottie Ebube looks promising at the 5. Both hit double figures yesterday.
- Speaking of Ebube, he's going to shoot a lot of free throws this year. The problem is he might not make too many of them. :|
- Only 10/13 of SIU's scholarship guys are currently available (Sharp and Hornecker injured, Hensley's waiver not approved). Ten is certainly enough, but just hoping to stay healthy from here. Sharp could return sometime in December.
