Love the Valley , been a fan since 1964. Will continue to be and you won't hear me bash it in leaving; but some will be dicks. It's what our administration had set as a goal, and like it or not, they did it.

I've enjoyed the Bears fans. Both on here and in STL.

Missouri State made the move for the same reason UMass dipped on the A-10 for the MAC. It had nothing to do with the conference they left and everything to do with the revenue streams of G5 conferences with CFP access.

This is the correct take. Admins got what they wanted, for better or for worse.

There are certainly real and potential benefits to the move, but also downsides. The better have their fundraising in order and sell the crap out of the Famous Toastery Bowl.

I hope it goes well for the Bears. I'm glad someone finally found that misplaced envelope.

Love the Valley. Gonna miss it and its schools in a lot of ways. My grandparents were SIU, my aunt and uncle were Evansville, and my brother and I were Missouri State. Always been an MVC family.

That being said, I only can see this as a good move for Bears athletics.

I was planning today on jokingly bumping the original "sealed envelope" post from 2011 that took a life of its own, but discovered that the "sealed envelope" fiasco was actually on ValleyTalk before MVCFans even existed and the early threads here making fun of it were merely referencing what happened on ValleyTalk.

It’s clearly what’s best for Missouri State and a pathway to bigger things in (hopefully) 20 or so years.

Either way, the Valley has become a low-major conference with no FBS playoff money to help support in this landscape. Time for me to fly.

Yeah, the 9th ranked conference in the country is low-major.

Hard not to see this one coming given the goals of the Bears.

I don't think there should be a rush to replace MSU, whatever they do in response will be important to the future of the conference and a rush job isn't what best serves anyone. They did a nice job after Loyola left adding some serious good programs/fits and I hope to see the same this time around.
