Cam Haffner suffered what could be a season ending injury tonight vs UIC to his left arm/wrist. Went down near the basket on a drive and watch if you must but going back and watching it on ESPN+ as I was at the game, there's an obvious deformity right around the wrist. He immediately grabbed his arm to stabilize it as teammates waved for the training staff to come right away. Not a doctor but can't imagine something isn't broken and you push out 6-8 of recovery time, 6 full weeks puts you to Arch Madness.

Coach Ragland postgame didn't give specifics outside of being without Haffner for a while. He walked straight to the locker room and never came back out so I'm guessing he went straight to the hospital for treatment.

Not what an already thin Evansville team needed, especially one that is lacking shooters to lose one of its core offensive threats.

Indeed. I'm not convinced Pozzato is healthy.

Since Pozzato returned he is 28% from the floor and 1 for 6 from the line. Before his injury he was 48% from the floor and 67% from the line.

Hopefully the poor shooting is just rust, because we'll need Pozzato and Comer to both play 35+ minutes a night for the rest of the season. The depth behind them is basically nonexistant.

I know Drake and Bradley are 1-2 but its gotta be Alexander and Ehsan as the frontrunners for COY right?

McCollum is miles ahead, IMO.

Everyone has differing opinions on this, but COY should go to the team that wins the regular season unless there is a very compelling case otherwise.

A lot has changed with the transfer portal and roster turnover that it's more difficult than ever to assess teams in the preseason. It used to be, how did a team place in the preseason voting and where did the team finish. I don't think that is as cut and dry anymore as those preseason rankings don't hold as much weight.

I think it's a 3 horse race between Wardle, McCollum, and Ehsan. No offense to Alexander and Belmont, but they were picked to finish 6th, and are in a 3 way tie for 3rd, so basically about where they were picked.

Wardle has to be there, because even though they were picked to finish 1st, there's something to be said about meeting those expectations.

McCollom has a strong case as well, being picked 5th, and being in 2nd by themselves with the non-conference they had. They have been a nice surprise for sure.

Ehsan has to be in the conversation as well, as they were picked to finish in last, and they are currently tied for 3rd. He's done a fabulous job there.

Honestly you can't go wrong with either of these 3 right now.

To me, what Rob Ehsan is doing at UIC is the story of the year in the Valley. After being picked last preseason, Ehsan has the Flames 109 in NET in Year 1 - UIC hasn’t sniffed that high in over 20 years.

In a sport where the coach is also the GM and roster builder - you better have a compelling reason NOT to vote the dude who wins the league as COY. Not giving a guy an award because he met expectations of being good seems odd.

Steffe has had a crummy freshman year shooting the ball, which is unfortunate, as that is what the Salukis need most. He has not looked the part of someone who was recruited by Texas Tech, where he transferred from. In fairness, he had been playing somewhat better lately during the team's resurgence, but he laid an egg again last night. He's getting lots of opportunity this season with the team's lack of guard depth and desperation for 3-point shooting, but his play has made me wonder why they decided to redshirt Tyler Bey and play Steffe.

I don't anticipate Steffe going anywhere this offseason considering he and his family are very close with assistant coach Steve Hawkins, but unless he finds another gear, playing time figures to diminish next year with Elliott (hopefully) returning from injury, touted shooter Luke Walsh (who had his second 50-point game of the season recently) coming in and whatever else they add this spring.
