Unfortunately not just one thing.

However, a big factor is the struggles of Sasa Ciani. He started the year great and then was out for a a few games for what we were told with the flu. However, he was out a lot longer than we expected, and he has not been the same since.

However, it is not limited to just him. Offensively and defensively, the team looks completely out of whack and nothing like from the first half of the conference play.

I remember after the Bradley win a few weeks ago, there were some posts on the board about UIC having arguably one of the most talented rosters in the conference. However, also seeing some posts the last few days about possible players for the all MVC teams, and not seeing any mention of any UIC players speaks to the real truth - that compared to EVERYONE else in the league, they don’t have a single difference maker.

Didn’t realize UNI’s reeled off 8 of 9 with the only loss to Drake. Jacobson’s doing it without 2 of their top players.

No doubt. They can win this thing still. Amazing.

Most UNI fans, myself included, probably considered our season to be in shambles after the loss of Bond. There's some decent talent on this team, but losing RJ Taylor was manageable, Bond is not so replaceable in some ways. That said, whatever secret juice Jacobson is giving the UNI guys right now is working.

If UNI ends up with a share of the league title, Jake has to be COY.

Jake's done a nice job to work through the injuries they've had, but even with a share of the regular season title, it's going to be McCollum.

The voters typically weigh preseason expectations versus finish and UNI was picked 2nd by a pretty wide margin. Also, rightly or not for conference awards, people will consider the nonconference. Drake didn't lose and has the best wins of anyone in the league.

I don't think he'll be able to get much more than runner-up votes this season.

COY voting probably looks something like:
1. McCollum
2. Jake
3. A bunch of voters might leave this blank

Arch Madness should be fun and for my money, UNI is probably the favorite to win it.

That late game was a doozy...the braves and Birds really went at it. Was a fun game to attend, the emotions were high.
