Is this definitively the case? I've seen conflicting information about this (as well as the at-large candidacy for VCU and UC San Diego).

Yes, Drake was 2 spots above UNC. The committee’s released seeding list went in this order:
https://x.com/NicoleAuerbach/status/1901403021860585521

44 Drake
45 VCU
46 North Carolina
47 UC San Diego

That put Drake/VCU above the at-large line, but UC San Diego below it.

The committee’s seeding list last year had Drake above the last at-large team in as well. In retrospect, we should’ve been rooting for Indiana St to beat Drake last year - as the committee valued Drake more (presumably due to their 4-2 Q1 record).

Two spots above UNC with winning Arch Madness. If they lost to Bradley, though?

I wouldn't read too much into it. This was the sketchiest selections process I can every remember, by a long shot and I am relatively convinced that UNC ad being the chair and squarely on the bubble is why. If UNC was easily in, I'm sure drake would be in no matter what.

The reason drake was so poorly seeded is that they have such a similar resume to vcu, and if you put drake cleanly in as a 10, then VCU has to be cleanly in as a 10 also. So by putting drake at the 11 they are able to justify knocking out vcu if they lose to Mason yesterday. If drake and vcu are properly seeded, then mason winning pops guess who's bubble? North carolina. They even admitted to making the bracket and contingency ones on Saturday night so they obviously had no way of knowing the outcome of Sunday. The committee worked backwards from their conclusions, and played it "better safe than sorry" drake being under seeded is a unfortunate byproduct.

Missouri is going to spend 2 hours hating their lives on Thursday and it doesn't matter if they win or lose. Drake is going to get their tempo, how tough is Mizzou? Can they grind?

Saw an interview with McCollum, and he was looking forward to playing a team with a different style, and watching that play out. Can't wait for Mizzou to see this, and with half of Drake's roster being from Missouri, even more motivation to play well.
