That was a real solid post. Are you talking about current homecourt advantage or overall? How many of your fans are over the age of 65? I bet MSU fans are fully aware of those figures. You may have the best homecourt advantage at the moment, but the best atmosphere in the Valley is not in doubt. You are not on the top in that department.

As to the thread, I'm just glad we're still capable of seeing MSU on the highway. Didn't expect two home losses, but then again I didn't expect to be 4-0 on the road at this point either. I do feel comfort knowing that everyone is pretty beatable, even MSU at home, as CU pretty much owned a big lead and then choked it away.

I think that WSU typically has the best atmosphere in the Valley but not this year. they havent had any crowd as big as MSU or CU had at their last respective home games and cant seem to really put the toughness they need for home wins. I would have to rate it MSU.... ISUb....WSU. May not be the way anyone else sees things but thats how it adds up for me at this point.

Kinda hard to get 16,000 people into a building that seats 10,500. From what I heard, the 10,600 MSU drew yesterday was their second biggest crowd ever.

You're way out in left field on this one, especially when you conveniently just plugged the Hulman Center in front of Koch Arena. That is an ultimate FAIL. :Bam:

Historically, I think you are probably correct. Wichita as a town has really backed WSU pretty well. I am certainly envious of that. The fact that many are older folks is humorous but not that significant, I was just having fun there. I do think our student support can rival the Shocks. We had a tremendous crowd yesterday and it is the students who really create an atmosphere.

I do wish our AD could be more active in trying to get Springfield as a whole behind our program. Bill Rowe certainly did a better job than Mr. Moats. I heard that there was mutual interest between he and Tulsa when it looked like their AD was going to Kansas. Kind of bummed that it turned out as it did ultimately.

I agree with your point that WSU isn't out of this, but I do think we are virtually unbeatable at home. To win a game like yesterday when we had played so poorly has to give us an unbelievable level of confidence. This MSU team feels like a team of destiny, but I guess you never know.

I will give you props on your student section. It looked very good on ESPN2. Very well organized, very well attended, and a lot of chants. Thought it was Halloween at some points, but still good. I would easily say you have the best overall student section in the Valley. Winning does help though.. ;)

CU is exactly where I predicted, though I was hoping 6-3. I see CU going 7-2 over the second half to finish at 12-6, which should be good for a 3 or 4 seed in St. Louis. I don't think we win at WSU and will probably drop one other road game -perhaps UNI, though we have had pretty good luck there over the years. If CU gets by UNI, I don't see us dropping a game until WSU in late February, and going into St. Louis with lots of momentum and a 3-4 seed at 13-5.

Indiana State Sportswriter on the Atmosphere at the game

I’d be really surprised if my ears aren’t ringing on my long trek home tomorrow. There were several occasions where I couldn’t hear the person’s sitting next to me on the press table. I’ve said it a million times, but there’s no arena in the MVC that gets louder than Koch Arena.
