I'm not crazy about Greg but Doug is an 18 year old kid and doesn't deserve to hear some of the stuff that the panthernation people will deliver. The funny thing about it is that I'm sure Ben and his team will show great sportsmanship so that should make for an interesting contrast. If any of you remember what it was like for Kevin Love when he played at Oregon (his dad played there and he grew up in that state) then I think this will be a similar situation. Oregon received a ton of negative press for the signs, voice mails, threats, etc. I just hope no one in the crowd decides to get physical or anything. End of rant on this subject.

I see an inspired CU led by Doug coming out with the W. CU will control tempo and the master will show the pupil a thing or two. They nearly overcame a hostile crowd in Springfield and so they'll be well seasoned for a smaller although more volatile crowd in Cedarloo or whatever they call it.

Well for the sake of the Valley, the McDermott's are going to get treated very poorly.

#1- We've always hated Creighton.
#2- A lot of people were mad when Greg went to ISU, now he goes to a conference foe and takes our best recruit.....don't expect a plate of cookies.

Hey I understand both of those points even I don't totally grasp the vitriol. My issue would mostly be with Doug. It seems that a lot of people are really directing their anger at him. And that I don't understand because he was just following his dad. I know he has a lot of friends there in that area and I don't think it is fair for people to boo Doug. So UNI fans am I wrong on this one? Who do you despise more Greg or Doug or both equally?

More Greg, but Doug broke his commit at the last possible second, whether his dad was involved or not.

They're both going to get it.

Why do we need to get a grip? It's not like we're calling for violence? This is the big boy world where athletes get booed and harassed during games.

You need to realize that this is not that simple of an issue. Its pretty complex, and pretty much unprecedented. Its easy to say that UNI fans need to "get a grip" from the outside looking in, but put yourself in our situation.

-He took our best recruit
-He took our best recruit to a conference rival
-This happened so late that we did not have time to even try to find another quality player
-We have a big weakness in the post because of the hole that this left in our roster

Do I blame Doug? Of course not. I mean, what was he supposed to do? His dad put him, UNI, and coach Jake in an impossible situation. All because he was a complete disaster at Iowa State. He flat out took advantage of his "friend" and his alma mater for his own selfish reasons.

Well, it's about time this can of worms opened up. Honestly, I'm surprised it took this long.

UNI fans have every right to be angry for the following reasons:

-GMac didn't just take the best recruit at UNI, he took the best recruit in the MVC.
-Little dougie was the key player in our plan to replace a graduating front court.
-Little dougie signed a national letter of intent.
-Little dougie was released from his LOI without any consequences (special treatment). The MVC lost all testicular fortitude when they decided to wave the in conference transfer rule and let little dougie play this year.
-The CU AD hired GMac with full intentions of knowing it would mean a package deal with the best recruit in the MVC. A shady move at best.

I don't have a dog in this fight but how would it have looked for Ben to not release Doug. He still would have gone to Creighton but as a walk on without a scholarship.

Not you but one of your fans called for a high elbow to Doug and doesn't care if would be called a fragrant. I would call that out of line....

I don't have a dog in this fight but I see a zero chance of this being a warm and fuzzy reunion...wish I had tickets :duel:

I don't think the league can do anything when the kid hasn't even stepped foot officially on campus yet! I haven't researched it but I don't think that is considered transferring..

Now would I be bitter over this if the whole situation was reversed? Heck Yes! I'm just glad that I'm on this side of things so far. Who knows what a year or two down the road will bring. But it looks good so far.

Now on to the game. I highly doubt the Jays have their toughness issues figured out or anti-choke valve turned on yet, so with the hostile crowd expected I easily see the Jays losing this game. They can keep it competitive though and it will come down to how many touches they can get Dougie and GregE down low in the home stretch instead of Young just dribbling around everywhere.

UNI's coaches and players are going to say all the "right" things before and after the game, but I can promise you with 100% certainty that the UNI program can't stand the McMoney family right now and will make sure to play a little "harder" and more aggressive than normal.

Luke will make sure Lil Dougie Fresh as he calls himself on his self created facebook fan page, knows the consequences of his decision...since the conference didn't do anything about it.
