I'm not one to complain about officiating often, just the ISU Blue/MSU game this year and the MSU/Tenn game earlier where blatantly terrible calls in the final seconds clearly impacted the result, but Higgins is just awful. Probably my least favorite ref of all time. And I don't think he was ever partial to any particular team, just generally incompetent.

I believe you are talking about John Higgins. He does quite a few Big Ten and Big XII games. He's on TV quite a bit.

Yep you are correct with JH, he is well traveled.... He loves to go to the replay screen!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was Higgins who awarded the end of game 3 pointer in the Iowa St-Creighton game, but didn't have a replay board to correct him for that one.

Prior to this season, I always thought that Janssen was the worst, with Pollard a close second.

This year however, Steed has been horrible. I've seen him do two games and they may well be two of the most horribly officiated games I've seen in person. He has far and away been the worst ref this year for Jays games.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Janssen, Pollard, Higgins, Sanzere, Steve Olson as refs. All are regular NCAA Tourney refs and all call the smae game throughout. I may not agree with all of their calls, but they do the one thing that good refs have to do and that is stay consistent.

I would agree with the comments about Zelton Steed. Kipp Kissinger, too. All over the place with what will and won't be called. May blow the whistles 4 times in one half and 50 in the next.

From the article:

As one observer noted, "They should have known something when Sanzere palmed it.

That's pretty damn funny!

I agree with this with the exception of Sanzere. I can't stand the guy. All refs will have bad games from time to time and none of them are going to be perfect, but the rest of your list I agree with. Hell, Janssen just had about the worst game I've ever seen from him in Wichita the other night, but all in all I like the guy. I like knowing the Higgins will be on a game as well.
