O'Rear will be a huge loss for UNI. I believe he was the heart and soul of their team. I don't think anyone wants to see a player go down to injury, be it on their team or an opponent, and we must remember he is someone's son.

I don't think this will necessarily affect his baseball career as many players have come back from significant injuries to excel in that sport.

Good Luck to Lucas in the future!!!!!

:Yea!:

Terrible news. I hope he makes a speedy, full, & complete recovery.

Hate that for him & for UNI. I hope it doesn't mess up his baseball career. I remember the Celtics about coming unglued when Larry Bird played slo-pitch softball during the summer after his senior yar. Think they later wrote a "do not participate" clause in his contract?

I hate this. As a Shocker fan, O'Rear was a player I feared but respected. Not the most physically gifted guy -- but he gave every ounce each game out and made everybody around him better. Sorry for Luke and for Panther Nation, and I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Sure hate to see a senior have a season ending injury. I hope his surgery goes as well as possible and he heals completely. A tough loss.

The story I read several hours ago (from WCFCourier/Press) said that O'Rear's doctors thought he should be able to begin playing baseball in late March or April. I very much hope that's the case.
