Rice transferring?

Rumor has it that MP is heading for a new job in Boston. I can't see him staying involved in MVC sports if true.

I have no idea on Rice and whether or not he is transferring.

I would like to know, however, how Rice didn't end up at a BCS school in the first place. His mass is not what we normally see for a freshman in the MVC. Considering where he hails from, did Illinois, Indiana and the rest of the Big 10 just take a pass on him? Did he have other BCS offers that he turned down? He entered the league with a lot of hype and has lived up to it. The Drake coaching staff really did a good here.

MP has less insight or knowledge of college basketball than my sixth grader. That is what makes his attempts to analyze the game and the players so laughable. He is the one who said the speed of the game is too fast for Josh Dotzler on a night when josh recorded 7 steals. He is the one who broke the story that Kenton Walker was out for the season due to injury when he ended up missing a game or two. He broke the story that P'Allen was transferring at about this time of the season during P's freshman year (if only that one had been true). In the meantime, he was continuously scooped by the OWH, the White and Blue Review and others on real stories - he would then claim he knew the story but couldn't publicize it until it was official out of respect for the players or CU. Of course, such journalistic integrity never stopped him from spreading other rumors.

In any event, I hope he gets the job in Boston.

I have spoken to people very close to the situation, and there is no truth to Matty P's rumor.

As far as Rice at Drake.....he had no BCS offers in the early signing period. He had several BCS schools taking a "wait and see" attitude. RR didn't want to be anybody's second choice, and he picked Drake over the dozens of other "mid-majors" that offered him.

I guess he was considered somewhat of a tweener, a big body who wasn't tall enough to play on the interior and not quick enough or a good enough shooter to play guard at the BCS level. Because of his body size, he doesn't look overly quick or fluid, but he's a lot quicker than he looks. I'm guessing a few BCS type schools are wishing they had offered. I think he can play at any level.

I really dont know how the MVC landed Rice, Doug Mcdermott, or Jake Odum. They all have either great size or bulk to them for their positions and have BCS conference talents for sure. It would be one thing to say they were late bloomers but they all have made serious contributions their FR year so I cannot see any of them growing that much in a year.
