During the entire season, yes you are correct. Odum is #2 and Young is #1 - Young is also not a Frosh.

During the MVC season Odum leads in assists, that was what my reference was to - MVC play. http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player ... rt3=fg_pct

I really don't have to spin this thing, so if you want to try and turn people on me then your going to have to try harder than that. Trust me coming over here and spinning things is the last thing on my mind, I wouldn't even waste my time with that. I have known this site existed since it's inception - it's not like I decided to come over here and waste your and my time by making s*** up. Just look at the numbers dudes - they don't lie.

Jake Odum vs. Drake this season (Both Sycamore wins)

Odum: two games against Drake: 27pts, 12reb, 7ast, 4stl, 6to, 10-19FG, 2-9 3pt
Rice: two games against INSU: 21pts, 8reb, 4ast, 2stl, 4to, 6-23FG, 1-11 3pt

Advantage Jake Odum - this is the last time I will entertain anyone considering Odum for anything other than top 2 for this award. For the record "Book It" is not an answer, I provided you people with substance - can someone provide me with substance? Someone tell me how and why I am wrong, other than "I'm just plain wrong". Tell me how i'm wrong?

Rayvonte Rice 2010-2011 stat line:

PPG: 13.9
APG: 1.7
3P%: .308
RPG: 4.8
SPG: 1.4

Jake Odum 2010-2011 stat line:

PPG: 9.3
APG: 4.3
3P%: .346
RPG: 3.9
SPGZ: 1.9

To be fair - and I'm a Drake fan - it's pretty close looking at those statistics.

I've never even seen Odum play so I can't even pretend to be objective here. All I know is that Rayvonte Rice is doing some incredible things for Drake. He's #2 on the team behind Wedel in terms of leadership and god knows where we would be without him. He's a dynamic player and has a BCS-type body and skill set. I think we all know the award will go to Doug at the end of the year. Petty arguments aside, I think we can all agree we have at least three big time players we get to enjoy for the next three seasons and that's nothing but good for the MVC as a whole. Watching these guys grow and battle each other will be a treat if you're a fan of the game.

Yeah Rice is a heck of a good player and I've seen him play in person once and on TV once. My goal when creating this thread is NOT to knock any of the players. I mean it's pretty easy to expose a freshman in certain areas of their games, no doubt. That is not my goal here. Jake Odum is our PG and he plays more min. than anyone on the entire roster - he is our unquestioned leader. Put it like this, the Sycamores would NOT have finished 3rd without Odum I can assure of that.

How do you guys not put ANY stock in him being a freshman PG leading his team to a 3rd place team in the Valley? Is your memory that clouded? Do you not understand what it takes to do that? Let me say again that this is our best finish since 2000, Nate Green was on that team. This team doesn't have a Nate Green but we do have a Jake Odum.

Mark Phelps had this to say of Jake Odum after the Sycamores beat Drake @ Drake “He was really, really (playing) at a high level.”

That's 2 "really's" you've got to think that's better than 1 right? Wonder who he'd vote for? I think I know the answer to that. Jake Odum has a PG is more valuable to his team than any Frosh is in the MVC.

Maybe you all should check the box scores from tonight's games... I wouldn't be so quick to say this thing is decided, it just got really tight boys even if you don't want to admit it.

Not on the same level??? There are definitely some quality freshman in the Valley no doubt. I understand you hate Indiana State but if Odum had been given the start at the beginning season I think he would have walked away with this award. I think that is why he won't win the award because he wasn't given the start at the beginning of the season and didn't put up stellar numbers until the second half of the season...

Psycho - that's a fair point, but one could also argue that Creighton played such a weak non-conference schedule that McDermott should have put up better non-conference numbers. The Sycamores had a much more difficult SOS, as I pointed out we played 2 ranked teams in the non-conference and on top of that 80% of our games on the road in the non-conference. That's a very tough ask for a freshman PG and it's not as if he played terrible during that stretch, just didn't play like he did once Valley play started.

Not trying to bash Odum at all, he's a helluva player, and I'd love to have him on my team. But, here's one stat that isn't mentioned that is somewhat relevant

Age:

Odum 20
Rice 18
