It's a bitter sweet day for Bradley as we lose a guy who led us to the sweet 16, and was a great player, but it all comes down to results. I did some looking today out of curiosity what his best finishes conference record wise. We know the best he ever finished was 4th place:

11-7 - 2005-2006 - Tied for 5th place, Sweet 16
10-8 - twice, 2006-2007 and 2008-2009. 4th place both times, NIT and CIT tourneys
9-9 - twice, 2007-2008 and 2009-2010. 5th place both times, CBI and no tourney.

So only 5 out of 9 years did he at least finish .500 in the valley, and really only a winning record in the valley 3 times. He never really got it done and took the step to the next level to compete for a Valley title.

Two words: Pat Knight. He didn't get a long enough time at TT to prove himself, he's going to have recruiting cred in that area, he's a good name for the fans, he creates immediate rivalries, and I think he's a pretty good coach. If Martin went to Oklahoma or something like that, I'd hope that MSU would have him on the phone the next minute.

I'd be pretty happy (as a Valley fan) if Bradley hired Pat Knight. He had the balls to schedule a home-and-home with WSU so I respect the guy. His teams also play exciting basketball. None of this hold the ball for 30 seconds BS that Les pulled on us.

The odds of BU hiring Pat Knight are the same as WSU hiring Pat Knight.

I haven't really seen any possible candidates mentioned yet. Is Bradley going to go out and get someone or go with someone more like the Les route?

May I say,
I used to be totally against hiring the long time loyal assistant but after lansing, it's growing on me....any chance a Mr. Todd Lickliter is looked at? He does struggle in recruiting but took Butler to the NCAA tournament multiple times before struggling at a dead end job at Iowa

Yeah he's not flashy, his teams dont dunk thirty times a game but ask IU, Purdue and Notre Dame how they liked playing his slow down tough defensive teams...THey didnt

He was a total failure at Iowa, and alienated himself against most of the local media and alumni. He plays a supremely boring style of basketball, and he was not a great recruiter. He WAS Butler basketball. It didn't translate.
