"Four of the teams that win first-round games will advance to the quarterfinals, while the other eight teams will play for the right to advance to the quarterfinals."

Maybe it's getting late but what the hell does that mean?

UNI will host someone March 15 in the CIT (the same tournament MSU won last year).

These tournaments mean something to the senior who has to take off his college jersey for the last time.

The tournaments mean that some people (hotels, arena support, restaurant, bus driver, etc, etc) will earn a little bit more money to pay their bills.

College freshman grow exponentially with each game they play and if a team plays serveral, hastens positive development.

Are there downsides? Yeah, I would hate to see a kid get a serious injury.

Yeah, I shouldn't have started out by saying they don't mean anything... But I didn't want to give anyone the impression that I thought this was anything other than an exhibition sort of event. This is the first post season tournament UNI has ever played in that wasn't called the NCAA Tournament.

The CIT at least has UE on its radar for a bid. Will depend on who gets picked in higher tournaments and if some teams decline CIT bids.

Here's some good information on the CIT and CBI and some interesting numbers on how NCAA Men's Basketball is pretty exclusive compared to all the other sports, college and professional.

The CBI is better than the CIT right? UNI is playing in the CIT, so why would the CBI take the MVCs 6th place team and why would they get a home game? Something doesn't add up to me.
