At-large bids will be driven by name recognition so the average fan will tune in to the games. MSU may be deserving, but I believe they will be NIT bound along with WSU.

The point is that it is easy to bend the information to make it fit your argument. The committee needs to look at everything, not just at what is convenient. Also, there are a lot more teams on the bubble than just 3.

By the way. The committee chairman last year said RPI was irrelivant and they didn't even consider it last year.

I'll help.....even though we should be comparing more teams (Realtime RPI #'s so it's all relative)

MSU - 25-8 (17-4) RPI 41 SOS 124 Conf. Rank 12 Best Wins: @WSU(61), Indiana St.(85), WSU(61) Bad Losses: UNI(109), @E-Ville (140)

Villanova - 21-11 (9-10) RPI 31 SOS 19 Conf. Rank 1 Best Wins: Temple (29), Louisville (21), @ Cuse (18), West Virginia (15). Bad Losses: @Providence (146), @ Rutgers (122), USF (162)

Marquette 19-13 (10-9) RPI 66 SOS 31 Conf Rank 1 Best Wins: West Virginia (15), Notre Dame (9), Syracuse (18), @UCONN (24). Bad Losses: none

- Here is what I see. For MSU, no big wins out of conference, but no terrible losses either. SOS would be ok, but they did not challenge themselves enough out of conference. No wins against tournament teams except for UALR. Villanova had a challenging schedule, their big wins in conference against tournament teams offset the bad ones, however, their finish might hold them back. Did get a win outside of the conference against temple, but it was on their floor. Marquette had a challenging schedule without any bad losses, no big wins outside of the conference, but against tournament teams.

Out of all of those teams I am most interested in seeing what Marquette can do out of conference in the post season. Villanova showed us down the stretch that they did not improve and MSU did not challenge themselves enough and did not win any of the games they did challenge themselves with to prove themselves worthy of being able to win in the tourney.

Air Force got an at large in 2006. Air Force! Seriously the whole process is a sham. The fix is in folks.

I would think that other Valley fans would support MSU. Who knows you might go 15-3 next year and get jobbed out of what you all deserve.

This year won't be a huge snub.

2006 and 2007 were snubs.

Edit - found this from another board...look at all the MVC teams
2010: Snubbed - Rhode Island (40); WTF - Minnesota (62)
2009: Snubbed - San Diego St (34), Creighton (40); WTF - Boston College (60), Arizona (62)
2008: Snubbed - Dayton (30), Illinois St (37), Ole Miss (39); WTF - Oregon (61)
2007: Snubbed - Air Force (29), Missouri St (36), Bradley (39); WTF - Stanford (67)
2006: Snubbed - Hofstra (22), Missouri St (24); WTF - Alabama (57), Seton Hall (58)

I hate to say it, but I would probably put Marquette, Nova, and Georgia in before MSU. Alabama and MSU would be close, but I can't see why you would think it is so crazy that MSU would be left out. They haven't had a single good win outside of WSU....which is mid 60's RPI wise. I would definitely put Marquette and Nova in ahead of them. Here are their numbers:

Georgia
RPI: 39
SOS: 36
Record: 20-10 (9-7)
Top 25: 1-5
Top 50: 3-9
Bad Losses: None
Quality Wins: 5

Alabama
RPI: 79
SOS: 125
Record: 20-10 (12-4)
Top 25: 1-2
Top 50: 3-3
Bad Losses @120, @146, @168
Quality Wins: 4

USC
RPI: 68
SOS: 42
Record: 18-13 (10-8)
Top 25: 2-2
Top 50: 3-4
Bad Losses: 154, @232, @154, @209, #236, 104
Quality Wins: 7

MSU
RPI: 41
SOS: 124
Record: 25-8 (17-4)
Top 25: 0-0
Top 50: 0-1
Bad Losses: 109, @140
Quality Wins: 3

Nova
RPI: 31
SOS: 19
Record: 21-10 (9-9)
Top 25: 3-6
Top 50: 6-8
Bad Losses: @122, @146
Quality Wins: 10

Marquette
RPI: 66
SOS: 31
Record: 18-13 (9-9)
Top 25: 4-7
Top 50: 5-10
Bad Losses: None
Quality Wins: 7

Nebraska just lost. Good news for the bubble teams. Still hope to dance...

I think the Bears will go dancing...you can throw all sorts of stats out there, but the one that I think should be at the forefront is that MSU won the regular-season race. I agree with some other posts here that the VAlley should verbally fight for recognition and not just back and let the bcs get preference because of name recognition!

I realize that, which is why I said the general public cheers for a win or two. Tell me anyone gives a rats crap if a 10 seed from the big 12 beats a 7 seed from the big 10? Everyone is cheering for the mid majors in the first few rounds....it is what makes the first few rounds exciting. Didn't say general public cheers for that mid major to make it to the finals.

I hear what you are saying. There were definitely people cheering Butler on though. It just wasn't the majority or the corporate sponsors.

You can argue that Nova and Marquette shouldn't be in over MSU. I get that and possibly agree with it. That still leaves MSU short over more deserving teams.

It is completely asinine to put a team in over storylines. That's a complete joke and hopefully wasn't stated seriously. When you're best win is over an NIT team, you better start booking your NIT tickets.
