I would be willing to bet that both play-in games tonight will have better tv ratings than any NIT game tonight or any night on ESPN.

If you'd rather play the NIT in NY than play in the NCAA's, what the he'll is even the freaking point? I seriously hope the rest of MSU Nation doesn't share in this same mindset. That is absurd.

No, we don't. We are still trying to figure out where he came from so we can send him back there...

Are you drunk? Thursday and Friday will have people taking off work so that they can watch basketball all afternoon. People will be watching from 12pm EST to only God knows when...If we make it far enough to have an ESPN game, nobody will be watching. Unless you are in it, no one cares for the NIT...

How many NIT games do you remember watching last year? I don't remember watching any and this is coming from the guy who literally watched all 24 hours of basketball on ESPN back in November or December. Without looking it up, I doubt you could tell me the last 3 NIT winners.

I said opening round or as it is known now as the First Round which occurred last night and tonight. I stand by my desire to make a long NIT run over getting knocked out tonight, when no one even realizes the tournament has started. And in reality it hasn't, these are "play in games."

I watched the entire Final Four of the NIT last year. Watched a couple of UNC's early games, vividly remember their game with William and Mary. In year's past I watched many UK games in Gillispie's last year and every game of Baylor's run in the 2009 tournament when they lost to Penn State.

To answer your question without looking, I believe Dayton won last year, I know Penn State won the year before that, and I couldn't tell you about the year before. I'm blanking on that one.

Please, I'm just speaking my mind. And on this issue, I'd betcha most of our fans would agree with me.

So if ISU asked your athletic department if you wanted to switch...you would stay in the NIT? doubtful

Of course I would trade with the Trees. They don't have to play in the play in game which was my point. Again, I would take a guaranteed trip to the NIT Final Four over a guaranteed play in game loss.

A play-in game loss still lets you hang a banner in your gym that says "NCAA Tournament" for all time. I would hope no team would hang a banner that says NIT Final Four. NIT Champion, yeah... that's banner worthy I suppose, but not NIT-Final Four.

We have now moved from the posts filled with Kool Aide to total absurdity. The NIT is better exposure than the NCAA's??? Discussing attendance figures from a CBI or CIT? You guys are cracking me up!!!

I can see a lot of fans attending an NIT game, but who really goes to CBI or CIT games? Unless you are a perrenial bottomfeeder, why would you attend a CBI or CIT game? The season is essentially over, your team didn't meet their goals, the weather is getting warmer and there is a whole lot of other stuff that gets priority over attending a game featuring teams with sub 100 RPI's.

I would expect attendances in the 2-3,000 range. Anything more would surprise me. Or it is an indication of a bunch of people with not a lot of anything to do beyond supporting a mediocre basketball team who's season should have already ended. Stick a fork in it already!

We have another thread com0paring the Summit with the Valley, that thread reeks of midmajor. This thread reeks of low major. Comical.
