Well stated and that was the point I was trying to make as well when discussing WSU's schedule. Perhaps "exactly the same as everyone else" should be changed to "the same as almost everybody else."
Let's be frank here - unless you want to play a bunch of road games at BCS schools where you have a very small likelihood of success, the only real way to improve your noncon is through good exempt tourneys. WSU got a good one and played some good competition (and got a home run in the MWC challenge). Outside of that, WSu's non-con schedule really isn't significantly different than most of the rest of the conference.
BTW, the noncon exempt tourney thing is the same reason that I think CU's noncon SOS will be bad this next season --- we get a neutral game against Iowa and a few cream puffs. It is entirely possible that even with a very good record, an NCAA tourney snub could result. Thankfully, the year after, we get to play in the 76 Classic which, like the ESPN tourney in Orlando, has quality opponents because the games are guaranteed to be televised.
