We've been accused of being elitist, self-absorbed, etc., but having an inferiority complex is certainly a new one!

Yeah, that's the problem.... our lack of a football team that can't even play at the FBS level is just too overwhelming to bear :Bam:

And some people wonder why we'd like out of this conference....

Shocker fans understand DJA. Few in this conference seem to think big at all and are content being what they are. Not all, but many. Or at least it seems that way from the outside. If CU leaves, this conference takes a hit. Basketball drives this conference and as much as I hate to say it, CU is one of the few schools that can push this conference forward.

If you listen to our AD, he's been very open in the media that we will go if there is a better option. I bet WSU and MSU feel the same. Right now there isn't. Be careful what you wish for jwa.

Upon review, the head-to-head gap isn't very wide (though MSU does own the series), but the conference record gap is pretty wide. I stole this from another BearNation poster, but since the Valley decided to slum it and let Missouri State into the Valley, MSU owns a 30-27 record against WSU and has a 58-47 conference winning percentage advantage. MSU has more wins in Arch Madness than WSU, even spotting WSU the 11 conference tournaments that occurred before MSU started sinking the Valley.

MSU has definitely been holding WSU back in the Valley. MSU has finished in the Top 4 in 67% of the seasons it has been cursing the Valley with its athletic ineptitude, while WSU has finished in the top 4 a whopping 38% of the time. Truly the class of the Valley. WSU has finished in the bottom 4 nearly half the time (48%), while MSU, as the bottom feeder of the conference, has finished in the Bottom 4 19 percent of the time. It's amazing we haven't been kicked out, especially compared to a "big-thinking" school like WSU.

MSU has reached the NCAA Tournament twice since entering the Valley to WSU's one appearance. Both schools have a Sweet 16 appearance and Valley regular season title under their belt during MSU's tenure, and WSU has zero tournament titles to MSU's one (although that's pretty pathetic for both).

Yeah, it's pretty hilarious.

I've had dust-ups with WSu fans in the past, but I have always appreciated WSU's willingness to think big. Too many schools seem to have a ho-hum attitude or level of commitment to their programs. Sure, things may work out and they have a good year every so often, but to be a regular contender, you have to invest in the program and demand success.

We need to find a place to go to first... Sadly, I don't think the option we are waiting for is going to happen any time soon.

Double Jay, I am sure you are right that all 3 schools would leave if they could, or at least in the case of MSU it would be that way if left to some of their fans (how can we forget the CUSA discussion?). Others in the league besides the three you mention may feel the same way.

I have enjoyed your posts and I believe you have keen insight as you survey the MVC landscape so while I talk a little smack with you it doesn't mean I don't respect you.

I have no desire to see anyone leave but then again I feel the league will survive if anyone of the three you mentioned leave. Even if all 3 of you leave. While in a recent post I defended the history of WSU, let's make no mistake that until recently they were a school wandering around the wilderness for many years without a Moses to lead them. So why do their fans act as if their you know what doesn't stink? Thus, I'm not willing to kiss the backside of anyone who pontificates about the importance of their school's importance and athletic prowess.

On the plus side, since the three you mention don't have football, it perhaps could be the start of a decent football league.

I'm still waiting for DJA's keen insight on the details of the inadequacies of UNI's suites.

There is zero chance of that happening at Creighton.
