Zero FBS football schools will consider a non FBS conference in basketball.

If the A-10 keeps Dayton and loses St Louis, that's a western footprint that still allows them to later expand into Indiana, Ohio, or Michigan, and then Illinois and then in the heart of MVC territory.

If the A-10 loses Dayton and keeps St Louis, we can pry St Louis with just a little effort, and the A-10 is all eastern and locked out a bit. Any new midwest team would have to be willing to be on a bit of an island.

If Dayton is left out, there is no doubt we should invite them as the 10th member of the Valley. We should also invite Detroit and Tulsa to extend the conference to twelve. I don't think the C7 is going to pass up SLU, they need them as an outlier to,,,,,,, what's the name of that school in Omaha? That being said I'am intrigued by Valpo as they are in the very extremities of the chicagoland market.

Why? If they're an FBS football school, and the MVC does not have a FBS football division, wouldn't Tulsa be free to join an FBS football conference as an associate member? I wouldn't think they'd be forced to downgrade to the FCS if they were to join the MVC, although few NCAA rules make sense to me, so I could be wrong.

It doesn't matter what subdivision they play football in...FCS and FBS are division 1....though I know many don't want to believe that.

Georgetown, Nova, and UCONN (until 2002), South Florida (until about 2002), etc... all play/played FCS football while being in the Big East...

Yep, they were Big East with football without being Big East football

Not many FBS conferences have football affiliates, especially the conferences Tulsa wants to be a part of(CUSA, MWC or Big East football).

I'm going to miss the Valley and the STL trips.

I think so. The furthest West that your new conference will have their tournament is....well which is actually further West, Madison Square Garden or the Barclays? Won't be nearly the same.

Tulsa or any other FBS football team can play in the MVC for basketball and I would welcome it. It won't happen though! The Big East is and has been about basketball. They would do things in football to get the basketball schools and we would too. We are not the Big East though and schools that are FBS aren't going to go to conferences that aren't FBS in football. Teams will move "up" in basketball but not "down" in football.

The problem with your little theory is that Tulsa doesn't want to be in the MVC.

If you're going to respond to one of my posts, shouldn't you respond to that other thread where you were being a prick and I made you look like an idiot?

I didn't say Tulsa had any interest in joining the MVC. I did not propose a theory that had anything to do with them joining. I responded to a post stating that no FBS school would join a non-FBS conference in basketball. Tulsa was used as an example because they were already being talked about, and were used to state that football has nothing to do with it, as ANY FBS school would still be able to join an FBS conference in football. FBS football is an irrelevant argument in regards to who would join the MVC.

There might be reasons why Tulsa would not join the MVC, but the MVC having FCS football is absolutely not one of them.

Try actually reading what I said before responding. Typing things out slowly to help you overcome your reading comprehension problem is less than entertaining.
