Rather see Loyola stay than go but just replace them with Murray State if they go, you've probably upgraded if anything.

I have bad news about that then... I posted on Murray State's board about how the program still enjoys popular support among MVC Fans for inclusion in the conference and got a response saying that their new AD and boosters are now AGAINST a move to the MVC. And an MVC without Loyola is less appealing than an MVC with Loyola.

I don’t see that? All I see is a Sycamorefan96 talking Murray fans into staying in the OVC and being anti-MVC and he’s getting buried by the whole board.

Also, what is it with Sycamore fans and wanting to be in the OVC? That's not the first ISUb fan I've seen express that setiment.

Actually its probably a better fit for them. They walk in today as a Top 3 program in Football and Basketball. I understand where they're coming from. It's not the choice that I'd make but I understand it.

If Boise puts their football team in the AAC and moves their other programs to the Big fricken Sky, it sends a message that they don't really care about their non-football programs at all. If they can talk the WCC into adding them, that would be an OK move though.

Maybe the Valley could make a play for Boise in non-football sports and add Murray along with them. Although if they're going to go Valley they probably may as well just join the AAC all-in.

Assuming all in is even an option for them. I doubt the Valley presidents are too keen on schlepping their teams to Idaho if they won't even send them to the Dakotas for all sports. We should be adding Murray right now though regardless. Get the good program now and wait on #12. Worst case scenario you have a great 20 game double round robin. I'm thinking the WCC might be an option for them if Gonzaga or (more likely) BYU steps up for them. (Quid pro quo BYU helps Boise's Olympic Sports now Boise State helps BYU's football team get into the AAC later if and when they need to decide to join assuming the AAC gets an inside track on a potential NY6 bid or playoff spot in the likely forthcoming expanded playoff which they would probably have if they added Boise State.)

Root for this. A 33rd conference and I would bet strong money the tourney expands to 72 opening 3 more at-large slots (good news!). TPTB at P5’s don’t want a chair taken away.

The issue being that the expansion of the tournament corresponds really nicely with a potential big realignment that will cause further concentration of Q1 teams in the top 7-8 conferences and greater stratification of the college basketball ranks. There would still be a chance for the MVC to fight for some of the last few chairs in the at large ranks but we would have to get even better and stronger and even then it would still be as hard or harder than it is now.

One thing I could see happening from this MWC\Boise\AAC\Others situation is ESPN possibly working behind the scenes to broker multiple MWC teams to the AAC (FB only) and having those western teams' Olympic sports go to the WCC whereupon a AAC-WCC Challenge is created. The AAC adds multiple teams off the top of the A10 and suddenly we really have something. Think about it:

San Diego State Dayton

Gonzaga Wichita State

BYU Houston

St Mary's VCU

San Francisco Memphis

Santa Clara Cincinnati

Boise State Tulsa

Pacific SMU

Pepperdine SLU

Air Force Temple

San Diego UCF

Loyola Marymount Tulane

Portland USF

Looking at this, it would be kind of a raw deal for the AAC. There's a huge drop off in the WCC after the top 4 in this scenario. Maybe it sounded like a better idea than it actually would be.

A lot of us are getting tired of playing schools that focus solely on basketball in the MVC and schools that focus solely on football in the MVFC. We don't have the resources or money to keep up. Most of us view football and basketball as equals. You can argue about it all day on here but that is how most of us feel. A lot of us also want to play the same opponents in both sports. We don't have a true rival and a lot of that has to due with not playing a lot of the same schools in both sports.

With that said there are also a lot of ISU fans that would prefer to just stay in the MVC/FC.
