MSU fans are going to like Clay. Bearz77's assessment of him is spot on. He can defend block shots handle and rebound well and when he's on he can fill it up. He put up some monster stat lines last year. The disappearing act his outside shot did is a mystery as it was passable his freshman season given what else he brings. If Missouri State can get him back to shooting at a decent clip they will have themselves a player. From an optics standpoint I do not like the message that players transferring away from us but within the conference sends but what can we do? Transfers have just been a fact of life in the Lottich era. He can recruit talent but he just can't seem to keep it which is very puzzling.

While I'm kinda surprised by the in-conference transfer[ I really thought he'd go to SLU but perhaps the SLU signing of Jordan Nesbitt nixed that] but the general issue of transfers and specifically Valpo's issues are probably gonna be an ongoing issue. While it's happening wide spread and to some very good programs, I gotta believe for Valpo 2 things come into play, both fixable, but perhaps especially the second, not likely. The first is the same for every program, you become more attractive if you're winning, both for initial recruiting but also for retention, but in today's climate, even that doesn't assure things. The other one to me for Valpo is facility/resource comparison. Players generally sign with what they think is their best situation out of HS , but once they're in school traveling and playing, I'm sure they get a much broader exposure to what other schools offer. Valpo just can't come across as very competitive in comparison facility/resource wise . I just gotta think Valpo has to find a way to fund significant improvement of their facilities if they want to remain viable. Just gotta do it.

Not anymore. The new rules state that the players immediately eligible unless the coaching staff from the prior team doesn’t allow it. In which case the player must sit one year. I’m quite certain that Coach Ford talked to Coach Lottich prior to this move to make sure he was fairly cool with it. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Other than LaRavia and Yesefu, it would be hard to make the case these guys are "moving up" or they are being "poached" unless you consider Donovan Clay being poached from Valpo.

I would even say that most of the rest not named LaRavia, Yesefu, and Clay to this point are legitimate down transfers.

I've not seen any change to the bylaws since WuHun flu by the presidents of the respective universitys.

Do you have some info that prove that he'll be eligible

Missouri State’s beat writer call the valley office and that’s what they told him.
