Grand Valley State has great all around athletics. They have won the NACDA Directors' Cup 15 times since 2001-02. The 5 years they didn't win they came in 2nd. They also have the endowment and academics.

This. There has been absolutely no follow-up to his original tweet. No statements from anybody. I'm definitely not sold on this happening, although I'd like for Murray to join the MVC

I have been asking around to the people I usually can get something from and it is dead silent. Some of these folks wouldn’t do anything but tell me if I was way off and I can’t get a response. My assumption that there are multiple steps being taken and discussed right now that could blow up if it went public before they were finished (I’m thinking specifically about Murray State football) so everyone is really tight lipped.

Football has to be the holdup.

You can't make an announcement that says 'we'll figure it out later'.

They need to do what UND did when they left the Big Sky for the Summit/MVFC. Play out the last two years with the schedule they have on the books but Murray can't win the league title or get the autobid to the playoffs. Murray would technically have a 0-0 record while the game against Murray counts for everyone else as a league game.

There's no way Murray can play in the MVFC in 2022 and, frankly, 2023 is pushing it.

This could actually be a good sign for everyone's Murray to the MVC hopes. The MVC runs a tight ship and keeps things very close to the vest. Nobody really acknowledged what Matt Brown said about Belmont until it was ready to be announced either but I remember the process when Valpo was added in 2017. I think it was Mark Adams (or maybe Father Harry) who broke that Valpo was the frontrunner after a great deal of speculation that Murray State was the frontrunner. Then everyone went quiet. I don't remember how long but it felt like for weeks we heard NOTHING and the anticipation killed our fans (me included). Then the announcement came and there was more waiting on Valpo's end until Valpo finished its last Horizon League event of the year. Then the notice of being the invitation being accepted came through and all was finalized. Maybe that's what's happening here. Maybe Joe and BC are right. Murray is the choice everyone's just trying to get their ducks in a row before anything is announced so that it doesn't blow up before all is finalized. It's pretty telling also that the OVC hasn't made a move or released a statement since Belmont left. That tells me they expect more departures and are waiting on everything to be finished before they can survey the land and make whatever additions they need to make in the aftermath. Maybe just maybe no news (silence) is good news. Or maybe I'm just trying to rationalize it so I don't go crazy myself given how badly I want this to happen. This is five years in the making for me and I've made no secret of that. Murray State should already be in the MVC so they absolutely deserve an invite now. I still wish we could just trade Murray and WIU to solve the football issue and get this done already.

I believe, as others have already stated, the conference is still ironing out the details of Murray's admission to the MVC. Sometimes it gets complicated, which causes delays. I really believe it is going to get done. Remember, there has been no denials coming from anywhere about the comment of Murray being admitted. One thing to consider is that the MVC definitely wants a 12th team. The only other team that I know that was being mentioned was UTA...and I don't see that happening. If UTA is ever admitted my belief is that UA-Little Rock would be coming with them and the league would go to 14 teams.
Anyway, I am very optimistic and I think we will be celebrating the Racers very soon.

That wording got my attention and I have to ask,
Does anybody know where the writer might be getting these reports from or how credible this writer may be?

That is the Drake student newspaper. The early report is probably the tweet from Matt Jones.
