Well, s***! That sucks.
well, you guys were decent in the MVFC, so you shouldn't have too much problem winning there. ;)
seriously though, good luck.
You'll be missed.

They'll win more there. The MVFC is a way better league...

The MVFC is a great league but don’t be ridiculous.

Liberty, Western Kentucky, New Mexico State, LA Tech, Jax State, UTEP, Sam Houston, Delaware….thats a nice slate of football teams.

FWIW here are Jeff Sagarin's rankings from last season. It had Liberty as the only CUSA team ahead of ND State - by two spots. There isn't much of a difference in the leagues - if at all.

I am a Missouri State Bears Basketball Fan, A Missouri Valley Basketball fan, and I hate this but understand it. I will very much miss the "local" feel of the conference, The "family" feel of the conference, and the very under rated quality of the conference. I personally am not football driven, this decision is. I also understand the relevance of the conference diminishing when you replace WSU, CU, and Loyola with Valpo, UIC, and Belmont. The trendline is not good. I will greatly miss the friendly hatred of SIU, UNI, ISU, and BU. Maybe we can meet up again someday. I don't know what the future holds for MSU, but I think a truly honest evaluation would say that staying put in the Valley is accepting the irrelevance that is being forced on schools at our level. At least this appears to be an attempt at fighting on.

You are 100% correct that Sam Houston did not play football. He died in 1863.

But Sam Houston State definitely plays football. :D

The fan base has always been very mixed about a move based on football; but we also came to understand that was what the Administration wanted and was pursuing. I came to accept it a couple years back and understand the rationale, even though I think it's faulty . The reason I think it's faulty is I don't see G5 status getting you much of a chance at being swept up in the next wave of change, but rather having to look at alliances at that G5 level and high FCS. It might assure a spot in the second tier, but who knows what that will be. But I don't fault our administration for kicking the tire; they set a goal and they achieved it. On this board, we've been laughed at, made fun of, and derided for even thinking we could make the move by some, and others , as some of our fans do, just questioned the financial validity of doing it. But we did, so it will an interesting path to trace over the next few years. Either way, we'll still be playing the same sports as always with most of the same challenges and limitations.

As a fellow fan of a laughing stock, I wish you guys the best, even if I do not think it will be successful.

As a fan of a MAC team (NIU) (in addition an MVC team UNI)), I can tell you that a low-level G5 isn’t any better than a high level FCS. MAC basketball is atrocious. MAC football is probably a little better than FCS but they get beat by FCS teams all the time (SIU beat NIU last fall). And worse, they play on week nights. There are hardly any fans in the stands. I guess you have a shot at a bowl each year, but they’re all crap ones in places like Birmingham Alabama. I so wish my G5 school (NIU) would join the MVC and MVFC for both better football and basketball, but stepping backwards is an absolute no-no despite how much sense it would make.
