This isn't happening at Evansville, and hasn't happened for several years. There isn't a single player on this team that is overachieving on the court in 2024-2025. It is the complete opposite. They are usually playing way below their level of ability.

In my opinion, I actually thought the Hafher(sp) young man was playing better at Evansville than when he was at Western Illinois.

I'm pretty sure he was not at Western Illinois. Haffner is playing better this year than last year, but last year was not a good year for him.

Nice try! Both happened within a 10 second stretch. The second was called a foul.

Game UNI had to have and got it done.

Heavy favorites in the next 3.

I laughed out loud at Ryan Pedon. He took not one, but two timeouts to "set his defense" and see what UNI was going to run only to let Tytan Anderson catch the ball with a full head of steam and go the full length of the court for an uncontested layup.

Way to draw something up there Coach.

It does seem that bradley wins the nail-biters and Illinois State loses them. That's what separates teams in a conference where teams are so closely matched.

How on earth did Illinois State lose to that Evansville team?

That's the worst offensive team I've ever seen. Last night was literally painful. 24 fouls on Evansville and it was, by no means, a tight whistle. Just undisciplined horribleness on the defensive end played at a pace so slow that it would make 2009 Ben Jacobson blush. UNI got up 8 in the middle of the first half and the game felt over.

I'm sure Ragland is an incredibly nice guy, everybody seems to love him, but this ain't working.

I have never seen so many air balls and shots hitting the front of the rim as I see watching the Evansville Aces. And not just this year. It has been going on for several years now.

The one guard continues to shoot his little step back 3. A horrible shot for most college BB players. Watch Jakucionis. That's how it is done. But most players are not him and most players should not be attempting it. Our guy continues to do it. He has made a few but has missed many many more. His normal 3 is pretty good. His 3-point average would be acceptable if he didn't shoot the step back 3.

The time players today waste on practicing the step back, especially with the Aces, could be better spent on practicing free throws and 3 within the motion of the offense. When become proficient at these things, then maybe work on your step back 3.

But the number of air balls and shots hitting the front of the rim are more than likely due to lack of confidence, uncertainty, and being out of a comfortable shooting range.

UE's players are not horrible offensively; but for whatever reason, they are not making the shots they get when they are open and are taking horrible shots the rest of the time.

What Evansville used to win 3 MVC games - stopping up the lane with 2 big men, trying to block every shot - Jacobson used against them. Clearly, a part of his game plan was for his players to be sure and use a head fake and get the Aces big men off of their feet. Once that happens, it is an easy call for the ref. I am sure every MVC team will now employ this tactic against UE.

For whatever reason, Evansville defenders leave their feet even at the most subtle head fake. I don't get it. Basic defense 101.

Just like the ball fake. Evansville players seem to rarely use it. Basketball 101. I don't get it.
