BluejayBear,

I could skew facts my direction as well. So you consider MSU to be a better program than WSU since 1990. Who would have the better overall program though?

I think the whole argument is petty on both sides.

If you have never been in a luxury suite in another arena, there is nothing I can do to explain the night and day difference. But hey, if it makes you feel better to believe that the luxury suites at McLeod are exactly the same as those elsewhere, feel free to continue to do so.

jwa123 wrote:Double Jay, I am sure you are right that all 3 schools would leave if they could, or at least in the case of MSU it would be that way if left to some of their fans (how can we forget the CUSA discussion?). Others in the league besides the three you mention may feel the same way.

I have enjoyed your posts and I believe you have keen insight as you survey the MVC landscape so while I talk a little smack with you it doesn't mean I don't respect you.

I have no desire to see anyone leave but then again I feel the league will survive if anyone of the three you mentioned leave. Even if all 3 of you leave. While in a recent post I defended the history of WSU, let's make no mistake that until recently they were a school wandering around the wilderness for many years without a Moses to lead them. So why do their fans act as if their you know what doesn't stink? Thus, I'm not willing to kiss the backside of anyone who pontificates about the importance of their school's importance and athletic prowess.

Did I talk about three schools leaving? I don't remember that... I also never said the conference would fall apart if Creighton (or anyone else for that matter) left. I think you have my comments confused with someone else. (I do however believe that if programs like Middle Tenn St and Troy St are going to be donned the conference "saviors" like a particular poster suggested, than the conference would be in serious trouble).

As to the rest of your post, I take no offense to your comments. I know that IlSU fans want to move for your football programs as well. I've said it before - I think ultimately the cause of the break up of this conference will be football by some of its members. In some ways, our problems are similar to those in the Big East - football schools want one thing, while those without football see football as the financial drain sucking away funds that could otherwise be invested in their BB programs. BCS football is a money maker because of the nice TV contracts. FBS football is a monetary abyss.

I agree that if you haven't been in other suites, you probably aren't in the best position to evaluate UNI's. That's why I asked if you had been in UNI's suites? Maybe you missed that question.

I've been in other suites, but I haven't yet had the chance to experience a game in UNI's. I'd be curious to know what the difference is.

So, still no answer? As long as you are making assumptions as to where i have been, I'm guessing you have never been in, or seen UNI's.

Double Jay, wanting FBS and finding a conference willing to help you move up to FBS from FCS are horses of a different color. I see no conference on the horizon willing to help in this regard. The MAC is in love with the metropolitan areas of the NE for future expansion, the Sunbelt is happy to stay south of the Mason-Dixon, and the WAC is too far away. As for CUSA, let's not go there. Unless the landscape changes, I don't see it happening for IlSU, MSU or SIU. Besides as things are moving in college football, in a few years, there may not be a lot of difference between these 3 FBS conferences and the higher ranking FCS conferences. As it is now, the difference isn't all that great anyway.

Also, it should be known that while many IlSU fans want FBS football there are also some who are content with FCS and the way it is now. I myself am indifferent. I'm more interested in seeing a successful ISU football program regardless of level which isn't something we have to crow about yet. This may change as just yesterday a 20 million dollar refurbishing of the east side (the most hideous looking portion) of the football stadium was announced and in all honesty the architect renderings look impressive. I am also interested in having a better basketball program than what we have had since Kevin Stallings left.

If IlSU ever left the Valley, I would miss the Valley. If Creighton or any of the other schools left the Valley, I would miss them too. Hopefully in the years to come, everyone is happy. Who knows, maybe we should all be happy now.

I mean't superiority complex...my bad folks.

DoubleJayAlum wrote:Yeah, that's the problem.... our lack of a football team that can't even play at the FBS level is just too overwhelming to bear :Bam:

And some people wonder why we'd like out of this conference....

True, why have an underachieving, overrated football team with a delusional and idiotic fanbase when you already have one down the road in Lincoln. If you'd rather support the rickety, money-grubbing bridge that is the FBS/BCS then fine. I'll continue to enjoy watching the Panthers tear up the FCS. Enjoy your...erm...whatever you do in the fall in Omaha without football. Oh yeah, nothing...that sounds...fun.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence…………yeah, right!!

By the way, for all of you wanting to leave the Valley………..don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Whoa.....this may be a new record on this board. Did you just attempt to insult the Nebraska football program, a program that's sold out somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 consecutive home games, won multiple National Championships in the last 20 years (real National Championships by the way) while at the same time alluding to the uni panthers as a better product?

You are in SERIOUS need of a check up from the neck up.

Omaha isn't Cedar Falls - we actually have things to do here! That's probably why so many UNI alums move here.
