A tried and true strategy:
When someone has a good point that you can't refute, create a straw man and attack the fanbase as a group.

What you just posted is not true. In 2011 NCAA units were worth approximately $250,000. According to MVC bylaws, the participating institution gets 50% of this money and the remainder is divided amongst the other institutions. For each game played by another institution, your school will receive approximately $14,000. So assuming that they both win a game, SIU and WSU will get around $56,000/yr
The only way to really get any money from NCAA participation is making it yourself. SIU's athletic budget was 23 million in 2011. This small amount of money does nothing in the grand scheme of things and therefore does not warrant my rooting for other Valley teams.

That is a good catch, I fudged up by typing it out as per year. Still, $300k over a five year period is nothing to scoff at.
And I would imagine Barry and every other MVC coach shares my approach on this. A better league means better recruiting, better attendance, etc. Nobody wants everyone else in the league to play at a SWAC or Great West Conference level- that does nothing but hurt your own institution.

Aces1982 wrote:Are you saying that most Shocker fans were for ISU last night cause that is what is good for the conference? Might want to rethink that. Go check out your forum, most if not all were hoping ISU lost for their own good. Knowing it would cripple an at large bid for ISU. Therefore, I would like to never hear a word from Shocker fans about money and the NCAA. Most of you were not singing that tune last night.

I do typically root for Valley teams in the NIT or CIT.
I don't care about the money.
