It depends on the night. Some nights is Lufile and some it's Carter. Both had foul trouble that limited them, but credit MSU defense too.

As a Bears fan I was heartbroken.

As a blogger I thought it was an amazing game that was fun to recap.

Just as a shameless plug, here ya go:

I was at the game, upper bowl so I have not seen this play close and cannot comment on it specifically. In general, I completely agree with what you said and it's one of the things I hate about the new review rules. A ref knows what he's doing when the ball is clearly off Player A but Player B is hacking player A and he awards the ball to Team A. Unfortunately, I don't know of an easy fix to this flaw in the review guidelines.

I have enjoyed all 3 of my visits to Springfield. SWOMO fans are very kind people and even after a loss like this most were very congratulatory and wished us safe travels. This was the first time I have had to deal with some douchebags but I will give them a pass considering the circumstances.

Side Note: "Bears Extra" might have been the funniest thing I've ever heard on the radio, even if it was unintended. Kudos

What a game. Bears played incredible. Shot the ball well, really clogged up our offense and made us settle for a lot of 3's we weren't hitting for a large portion of the game. In the end, the Bears just didn't have enough gas. Undefeated magic is special for confidence, saw it with Ohio St. the other night. The team never thought it was over, found what was working (taking it to the basket), and just battled.

Just let me add this. The present might be a little gloomy, but the future looks bright. MSU has a stellar cast of young players. I expect more great battles before Ron, Fred, and Marshall graduate. Call me crazy, but if MSU can find a way to replace Gulley, we'll be dancing together in 2015.

As for those complaining about Lusk. There is a learning curve for a young Valley coach. This is the Valley, where nothing comes easy and every team will game plan to win. Some of Marshall's decisions drove me nuts for a few years, but look where he is now. Lusk will get taught some lessons, but hopefully it will help him grow.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

Carter looks good sometimes, but I haven't been as impressed with him since conference play started. He hasn't dealt with the physicality as well.

I loved the play by Baker in OT, when he jumped on the ball and didn't move. Most players would have rolled around and picked up the travel call. He flat knows the game. An incredible game. Both teams gave their all and showed a lot of grit.

Well, nice comeback by the Shox, but this game opened my eyes a bit. This is not a top 10 team though. Defense is lazy at times and they really don't have much of an interior game. As much as I hate to say it, the Shox would get smoked against every other top 10 team on the road. Play angry all you want, just not as talented as the record shows. Don' t get me wrong, they are still the best in the Valley.

A lot of teams said that last year in the NCAA tournament, as well. But, in the end, the Shocks were still able to beat a few of them.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned--it shouldn't have been even a jump ball near the end of the game. When the MSU player finally tied up Baker (what a smart play), his foot is clearly out of bounds. The Shockers got the ball on possession anyway. And the diving play a few seconds later by Baker was gutsy. What a heads up player.

shockem wrote:The shox may not blow you away so I won't be surprised to hear comments like "they are good, but not top 10 good". What you will see is defense, rebounding and taking care of the ball. That's their formula for success and it's worked so far.

LOL, you were correct shockem
