Your ability to assess is very much lacking. That, or you haven't watched UNI play much and are just guessing off past experiences.
At full strength, we are much better than them. Besides, I'm not even talking about what happens at UNI...this convo was about Arch Madness.
If I had to rank teams I would want ISUr to play at Arch Madness (first) it would go like this:
1. Bradley
2. Drake
3. Evansville
4. Indy St.
5. SIU
6. UNI
7. Missouri St.
8. Loyola
9. Wichita State
And, honestly, at full strength, nobody scares me until WSU in the finals.
I think you are living in La La Land if you think that Loyola and Missouri State would be tougher than UNI...
Case in point...MSU can give us fits
Yup, MSU did give them fits last night and a month ago in Normal. I can't deny that. I think last night and back in January might have been the best version, or one of the best versions or Missouri State we will see. I think that if they see that team again, it won't be close. Dirty Dan seemed so frustrated with all the wide open shots, I would expect him to crack down on that is the Birds and Bears meet in St. Louis.
After last night, where ISU played one of it's worst games all year and won, and UNI had trouble with Bradley at home...I take back my statement about UNI winning the tournament. I fully expect to see them playing on Saturday, but they won't beat ISU or WSU.
I think that the only way that either WSU/ISU doesn't make it to Sunday, is if one completely falls apart and the team they play shoots the lights out. Even then, talent still might win out.
If the Birds get to Sunday, play to their capabilities, I have no doubt they can win the game, if they play bad and Wichita continues to execute in the 2nd half like they have been, it might be a long afternoon. I expect that rubber match to be a good one, both teams don't seem to be real big fans of one another and neither do the coaches. As much as I want to say Illinois State will win in St. Louis, the combination of being a pessimistic Redbird fan from years of misery, and how great Wichita State has looked, I have to pick Wichita State. I don't think the game is anything like the game in Wichita, but at this point, I would pick Wichita by around 6.
