Elgin with some interesting thoughts about Expansion RPI\NET the future of the league and scheduling.

http://www.valleyhoopsinsider.com/the-s ... he-valley/

Beginning to endorse a 12 team model.

Thinks NET allows teams to control their own destiny more and play their way in

Thinks we can get back to multibid status again

Wants to work with peer conferences on scheduling

Seems happy or at least okay with how the tournament has unfolded.

Northern Iowa has officially entered "going to need a miracle of circumstances" territory to get in. Down to 8th team out according to ESPN. Yesterday's results (Drake losing, Utah State winning the Mountain West) really hurt.

Yeah, CBS just showed a graphic suggesting UNI was a bubble team.

I'm with you, we're talking UNI having a 1% chance of making the tourney, and that's even before most of the power conference tournaments take place.

I like the double bye idea. What would have to happen for the Valley to move to this?

It would probably take the PIG teams beating the #1 and #2 seeds in St. Louis the next 2-3 years in a row for this to happen.

This weekend was a complete outlier. The #1 and # 2 seeds in St. Louis were a combined 57-1 or something close to that in the 30 years in St. Louis. No need to make changes because of a 1 year aboration.

Got home late last night. Went to all the games. Finally coming out of my haze of disappointment. Congrats to Bradley for being the only team of the so called "top tier" to show up clutch. Been a clutch two years for you. Congrats to VU, too, on a great ride. And congrats to Drake for playing a great game against us.

I suspect we will be a 3 or 4 seed in the NIT. They tend to do that to mids to protect the 9th best ACC team from having to play on the road. Bummed out, but I'll still be there for the NIT games and hope we make a run. Would probably go to New York if we make it that far. The only thing left to do is win the whole effing thing.

Oh, and leave Arch Madness alone. No double-bye nonsense. Its perfect the way it is.

I think with the chance still present for the Valley to garner multiple bids (not this year but the league looks really good in future years) we need all the games we can get for resume building. That said, if we go to 12 teams (which now seems likely) I think we could see first round byes granted for the top 4 seeds in a format like this:

5 V 12

6 V 11

7 V 10

8 V 9

4 V 5\12

3 V 6\11

2 V 7\10

1 V 8\9

Just think Thursday becomes an all day event. Two days of wall to wall Arch Madness sounds amazing!

We aren't going to be a 3 or 4 seed in the NIT. I haven't completely given up on the at large even though it feels like a long shot due to the last performance we saw. That win doesn't invalidate 4 months of being rock solid and having 8 true road wins.

If we don't get the call, the floor is an NIT 2 seed and multiple games in Cedar Falls.
