Lets, make sure the MVC is, as well because right now they wouldn't be. Make a super conference like everyone else. Beat everyone else to the punch and do whaever it takes.

Add:

Gonzaga (private)
St. Mary's (private)
VCU (public)
Dayton (private)
St. Louis (private)
Murray State (public)
Belmont (private)
New Mexico State (public)
Grand Canyon (private)
Iona (private and only for the New York market)

7 of those schools would be laughing too hard to talk when they found out who was calling.

I'm all for talking about scenarios where we can, and should, expand but we've got to stay out of fantasy land.

The list of candidates looks like this (not necessarily in order):
UT-Arlington
Oral Roberts
Murray State
Belmont
South Dakota State
North Dakota State
Milwaukee
Omaha
UIC
Grand Canyon (MAYBE)
St Thomas (after DI transition)

No point if that's what you get. It will have 0 effect. The era of 1 or 2 team adds are over because it won't make a dent. Maybe the a-10 and mvc can merge since both are strictly basketball. I'd rather it be the mwc but they're fbs and the summit isn't good enough. Thank God the Mac is fbs to dodge a bullet. Hell, merge with the wcc too.

You add Valpo, then you complain about this list? Really? There is lots of winning and actual fan bases on that list. ORU finished 4th in their league last year before catching fire in the tournament. They have Max :D Abmas, and won't win the league this year either.

They're a public extension campus in Texas and they make absolutely zero sense. If they were a private with a ton of money then maybe (see Loyola), but that's still too far.

They shouldn't even be in the Top 10 of schools the MVC looks at. If the MVC really wants to add a public non-FB school in a big market where nobody cares about said school, we can all send our teams on a bus to UW-Milwaukee.

I'm guessing all the communication between Arlington and the league must be over a potluck then. They're an extension campus with an enrollment of 40,000 backed by massive amounts of money rolling through the UT system sitting in the 4th largest metro in the country. They're the IDEAL add.

I'm sorry we can't get to your dream league consisting of OVC, Summit, Horizon and Valley schools where no one would ever have to set foot on one of those newfangled airplanes.

I don't care where they are at. They're UW Milwaukee quality. Sorry if that hurts your feelings but it's the truth. The MVC should be adding schools that are in the Midwest not in the Southwest or whatever region Texas is in.

I agree UT Arlington doesn't move the needle but do think for the future of the conference distance means nothing.

I don't understand how adding 10-20 crappy low major programs is supposedly what saves our conference 20 years from now.

Also...The list you came up with is mostly a list of schools that won't even consider moving to the MVC. Gonzaga...Really? Why not shoot for the blue bloods?

I disagree. None of the ones I listed are in a great conference. Gonzaga holds up the WCC. I believe every school would rather play with those schools than their current conference. Now, there are other reasons they may not join like distance, not wanting to increase budget, or wanting to be the big man in a little ocean like Belmont, etc. but don't for one second think if that was presented to each school they wouldn't at least think about it especially now when athletic programs are thinkin about how to stay relevant in the future.

I think an interim move should be something like associating with another conference, such as the West Coast or Atlantic 10, and scheduling multiple games against the teams tin that conference. Maybe play half the teams in the other conference every year. Would automatically give us multiple games against decent teams which solves some of the ongoing scheduling issues and creates an association in the event we need ta bigger conference to survive.

Big Ten, PAC12, and ACC are forming an "alliance". If we could do something similar with the MWC and A10 maybe, that would be pretty great.
