By allowing him to serve the NCAA and the MVC punishments concurrently rather than forcing him to serve them separately. Also, he signed a financial aid agreement at WSU Doug had never done that which is why I never cared that he was released and switched schools. This is laughable but what can you do, Elgin runs the show like a circus.

What do you mean Doug never signed. He absolutely signed with UNI in the fall. We were told by the league that they would not enforce the rule.

Doug never signed a financial aid agreement. He signed a NLOI much different. Teddy signed both at WSU.

Are you sure?

He was less than 2 or 3 weeks from starting classes at UNI.

He was released in April, most sschools start summer class in June. I can't attest to how every school does things but most schools sign all of that during orientation or the weekend before they start class.

The problem is that the league went the wrong way in changing the ruling. They initially made a "compromise" that they thought would keep the intent of the rule while helping a """"student"""" athlete. Then they changed their mind and the only thing compromised is their credibility.

I agree that the deal should have never been struck either. He should have not have received any special treatment. He should have sat out two years or go somewhere (a prep school or community college) and get eligible first and then come to the Valley.

Is the kid even eligible yet? We're nearly done with the Fall semester and I'm yet to hear anything about whether he can even enroll and take classes at Illinois State University. Last time I checked, in order to be a student-athlete, you first have to be a student. Then you can be an athlete.

This whole debacle is a joke.

The Hawkins situation?

Or did you mean the ISU basketball program?

Or did you mean the Valley office?

I'm an ISU student and I've seen him around campus, so obviously he is currently a student at ISU and enrolled in classes....

I've seen plenty of people around ISU's campus who were not students. Hanging out on a college campus doesn't automatically make you a student. Not that far fetched that someone who is working on becoming eligible for a college athletic team would hang out around campus.

But in retrospect you'd figure someone would be cleared before they make any decisions on why they should throw away clear cut rules for him.

To answer SigEp's question: Teddy is enrolled and taking classes at ISU.

Like Redbird Recon said, he is enrolled and taking classes. Just because you haven't heard about it doesn't mean he isn't enrolled. That's probably because you are in the UNI fan base and don't know everything that is going on at ISU. He's not "hanging around campus." As an enrolled student, he lives in Wilkins Hall and eats regularly in the Linkins dining hall with his meal plan. Those are the two locations I have seen him and it was reported that he was in the crowd for Hoopfest back in October. Also, look at the ISU People Search page and he is listed. http://search.illinoisstate.edu/?q=deon ... =p&oe=UTF8 . I didn't provide all this further explanation the first time because I didn't find it necessary. I'm not sure what kind of proof you are looking for.
