Not that it matters anymore because we are likely staying, but the Valley would have had a hard time replacing us. The potshot at football may have some meritt but we are far from "usually mediocre" in hoops. We also are the historical power in women's basketball too. And we have had success in baseball and won the softball tournament this year. Plus we are the only Missouri team in the Missouri Valley Conference.

What does that have to do with it? You do realize MSU falls outside the Missouri River Valley, for which the conference is named, right?

MSU Basketball over the past ten years: 1 conference title and 0 NCAA appearances. While I think MSU is trending up after last season I don't believe it makes them irreplaceable.

MSU trended (past tense) upward. Since choking in the MVC tourney, they've graduated 4 senior starters and lost their head coach. They are in rebuilding mode whether Bears fan accept that or not.

Tough to tell for me, Still have Weems but I doubt they can replace every piece with an upgrade like some MSU fans seem to think.

We upgraded in terms of the coaching staff. The rest is conjecture, we are the defending champs with the best player returning. And in terms of passed tense, Ali F is long gone.

What does that have to do with anything? It's a username, not a belief or opinion.

Upgraded from Martin to Lusk? How exactly?

And to be clear, MSU is the defending season champs, not the tourney champs, and the best team in your recent history didn't even dance. Ali, on the other hand, became a national name and played into the Sweet 16. Notice a difference? I thought so.

What would you have said to outsiders when they questioned NIU after McDermott left for Ames, IA? We will be just fine with Coach Lusk. Good bench coach at West Lafayette and he holds a master's degree as well.

Regular season champ means more than post season where flukey things can happen. I'm not taking a shot at Indiana State here, just making a general point. NIU was a good ball team that season, but they had the sort of luck that Jimmy Johnson has in Nascar and Kevin Harvick's point would apply here to. And Ali did have a moment though it is hard to be national name with a last name so long.

SWMS was the best team in the league until SWMS gave away a tourney title and NCAA berth. I am not a redneck and don't want Nascar (also not a sport), so your analogy makes no sense to me.

If you say Ali and Northern Iowa, people know who you're talking about.
